 | RE: Message for Grant Yes, I have that same book on Grant by Jean Edward Smith!! I am currently reading the book by McCollough (sp?) on John Adams after having watched the mini-series just last week. I LOVE history just as you do!! I have to admit that most of my books are on Civil War history but I also have WW2, Viet Nam, and NASA/Astronauts. I am more devoted to military history being an Army vet/wife but I love the Colonial history and that of our Founding Fathers too. Sounds like we have much in common!! Always great to meet a fellow history buff and friend!! Nice meeting you! Your Friend, LaDeneAdded by LaDene on Jul 02, 2010 9:40 AM | | | LaDene
 | Message for Grant Yes, I know exactly which picture you are referring to with Grant next to the tree and it is one of my favorite pictures of him!! I have admired Grant for many years and I also have about 10 or 11 books on him. I also admire Sherman and have about 4 books on him. I love the fact that both of these great men are from Ohio, since I live here in Ohio I have been able to visit both of their boyhood homes. Sherman conducted "Total War", which wasn't pretty, but it ended the war and that was his primary and singular goal. He didn't care if it made him unpopular but did what he felt was necessary to bring the South to defeat. Glad that you like these GREAT Men (including Lincoln) as much as I do!!! | Mary Jo Kopechne Thank you for the lovely tribute you left my cousin, Mary Jo. It is deeply appreciated by the family. Yes, she, too, loved Bobby Kennedy. Thanks again, Cousin G.Added by Donna on Nov 04, 2009 12:43 PM | | | LaDene
 | Message for Grant I just wanted to say Thank You for such a lovely tribute you wrote to General/President Grant. Your thoughts mirror my own of him as I have admired him for many, many years. He was an outstanding General with military genius few possess. Those of us in Ohio are very proud of him and he is one of Ohio's greatest Sons. Hope you don't mind me writing you. Have a Great Day.Added by LaDene on Nov 03, 2009 9:10 AM | | |
