RE: Slater Balyeat
Hi again, I've tried finding 'Bettie' buried at Fairhaven but didn't find her name there. Where did you find that? I did, however, fine her death in CA but her birth date on that was 1866 and in Kansas it is listed as 1871 but certainly sounds like the same person. It could be she died in CA and was buried in Kansas. On the 1930 census in LA she is listed as b. abt. 1870 and 1940 as b. abt. 1871. I also did not know that John (her husband) died in LA. Some interesting things!! Let me know what you think and also about the cemetery in CA.

Slater Balyeat
Hi, I am related to Slater's father John Slater Balyeat. His 2nd wife was Bettie and her name is on the stone with John but has no death date. Bettie was living with her son Slater in 1940 in LA. Do you by chance know when Bettie died and where buried?

Nancy Prater Williams
Hi: Are you related to Nancy Prater Williams? If so I would like to hear from you as my gr-gr-grandmother Elizabeth Prater Jackson was her sister, and she raised Elizabeth's twin daughters.
Betty Guthrie McCollum
in Arkansas, near where Elizabeth Prater Jackson is buried.

RE: Mary Ann Jones Callahan
Hi Karen,

If you have an Ancestry account I have a tree on there that has the "circumstantial" evidence. It's kind of too detailed to go into in a message but entails proximity of family members in several census records, Jones kids living with the Callahan family, Mary Callahan living near married Jones daughter across several states - that sort of thing. Also, nobody else appears to have any background for the Mary Jones that married James Callahan.

Mary Ann Jones Callahan
I have a strong suspicion that Mary Ann Jones Callahan #32181697 may be my 2nd great grandmother through her first husband, Allen Jones, based on a census in Arkansas showing her newly married to Callahan with two older Jones children. If this is she, her maiden name would have been Magness. Do you have any personal knowledge of the family to be able to either support or refute that theory? Any information or comments would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Carol Jones

Ayers Grandchild
Ayers family

I am Phylis Ayers Golden. My Father was Bill Ayers (Wm.) (1925), his father was Charley Ayers (1872), and his father was Charles Ayers (can't remember date in early 1800s).

My father had 9 siblings. Don't know if you are kin to any of us.

Charley was born in Yallabusha (sp?) Miss. His father was, I believe, from The Carolinas. His mother was Susan Hazard from Tennessee.

I have a sister named Susan and she's the historian in our family. Let me know whence you came and maybe we can help track out roots.

Happy that I could help. I know how great it can be to finally see the headstone.
