I love the peace and quiet of cemeteries. (There are no telemarketers calling.) I also love taking pictures. The exercise is at my own pace. The stones are interesting, and they absolutely need to be documented before they are lost to the ravages of time. |
I'm 10 generations forward from my Mayflower ancestor George Soule. I'm 13 generations from my New Haven founder Capt. Nathaniel Turner. 13 Generations is 1024 direct ancestors (doesn't count siblings etc.) My husband also has 1024 direct ancestors going back to the Mayflower. That's 2048 direct ancestors. I haven't found them all in the 40+ years I've been researching. But I'm still looking. Thanks to all of you members at Find a Grave, who are making finding their burial places easier.
PLEASE use the EDIT tab for suggestions, corrections and transfers. I'm happy to make changes, but I'm going to ask you for a source, if it's not directly on the stone. (Using the new edit system you can send source information through the "Suggest any other correction or addition" line.) The internet is a wonderful thing for genealogists but it's also very good at spreading misinformation, and I am trying very hard not to spread undocumented genealogy. That's one of the reasons I love Find a Grave, because I can look directly at a gravestone and see exactly what it says and don't have to depend on second and third hand information. Happy hunting.
PHOTOS OF GRAVESTONES. Please feel free to use mine, that's why I took them. I do like to get credit, though. "ASB"
PHOTOS OF PEOPLE. I've posted them to be enjoyed by visitors to Find a Grave. I was a little taken aback to see my mother's photo on Ancestry. So you're welcome to use them, for your personal use, but I would appreciate it, if you would avoid posting them to other internet sites.

Thank You So Much For The Transfer

>Only the current manager of the profile can actually edit them. Would you like to be the manager? I don't mind transfering.<
Thank you for the info. Yes, I'd loved to be the manager of Rev. Mortimer Gascoigne's page as well as the page for his wife, my grandmother, Carrie Bradley Gascoigne. If you ever want to give up the management of Dr. Ichabod L. Bradley, Adeline Slayton Bradley, and Abigail K. (Kellogg) Bradley's sites also, do let me know for they, Ichabod and Adeline, are my great grandparents and Abigail K. is my great great grandmother.

Betsey's stone only had her name and dates on the front of the stone. I didn't see any other names or dates.

My husbands GR.grand father is a direct line to the mayflower.

Thank you. I did an edit on Ann's page. Hopefully Find A Grave will make the correction.
|Harry Morris||Dorothy Perrin Memorial 93207871|
This might be a stretch, but I was looking for the grave of Dorothy Morris, 1701-1790. She married Samuel Perrin of Pomfret in 1724. He died in Pomfret in 1765. She died in Pomfret May 8, 1790. Could this be her grave?
|Sandi Litzenberg||Deidamia Hanks|
Thank you for creating the memorial, processing the edits and linking Deidamia to her parents & sibs.
I am descended from her sister, Elizabeth Hanks Walker. I'm assuming that Elizabeth named her daughter, Deidamia (my 3rd great grandmother), after her deceased sister.
Would you happen to have any information on the Ebenezer Walker family living in that area around the turn of the 19th century (1790- early 1800s)? According to the family history that I received, Deidiamia's parents, Ebenezer & Elizabeth Hanks Walker, owned 2 hotels that were around the Becket? & Windsor? area at the time of her marriage to Allen Benton. Allen & Deidamia Walker Benton then moved to Medina, Ohio. Deidami's parents later moved to New York.
Research on the New England small towns during that period has been very trying for me.. The boundaries and names seemed to change every few years.
Again, thank you, for all you do for this site..

No, not blood related-just working on the Brush Creek Cemeteries and all the 'connections'. Was raised in Brush Creek and know a lot of the families.
