|I have long, long connections with Wilkes County, NC. I grew up in upper Virginia, the D.C. area to be exact, and would visit here from time to time with my dad, who was born in Wilkes County. In 1967, we moved to CA and I married in 1970 and moved to Oregon where I lived until 2000. At that time, I moved back to CA to help with my parents. Each year, we would visit during late September/early October for family reunions and about two years ago, daddy and mother were getting tired of things in CA in the Bay Area and started thinking about moving. We looked at property in Wilkes County and last September found the home we now live in. We moved from CA to "home" and the moving van pulled up on Dec. 26 of 2007 and in we moved! We are glad to be home among family and friends and while I have never lived here before, it feels like home since my roots go back to the 1770's here and I feel like I know all there is to know about Wilkes (which, I'm sure, is not true!) But, here I am and since I am caregiver for my 90-year old dad and 85-year old mother, (who has since passed away on June 11 2009), I don't work and have some free time on my hands. I am going to attempt to photograph Wilkes County cemeteries over time and since findagrave was so helpful to me, I am happy to be able to add to the lists. I am willing to help with questions and answers about Wilkes cemeteries and history, but cannot guarantee I will do it in "your time". lol I love this website and appreciate all the great contributors.|

|Ken Buttry||RE: Mary Polly Jones Adams|
Message for your friend who called earlier today.
Thanks for your interest and taking the trouble to call and chat with me. I will greatly appreciate any assistance that you can provide about my ancestors from the Heritage of Wilkes County book. I will gladly reimburse you for any expenses you have.
|Ken Buttry||RE: Mary Polly Jones Adams|
Thanks, I have found the photo on several trees on ancestry. I was not as interested in the photo as I was in her family history. None of the trees on ancestry have helped.
Thanks again, KEn

Since you posted a photograph of Mary Jones Adams, I hoping that you have a connection to the family. Her mother was Elizabeth Buttry, born in 1784. I am very interested in any information you might have or find on the Buttry family. Please don't get hung up on the spelling of Buttry, Buttery, Buttrey, Butery, etc. I descend from her grandfather's (Timothy)brother Abraham but am still trying to prove they were brother and who their parents were. Will appreciate any help you can be. Ken Buttry

We hope you and your Dad are doing well. We have a favor to ask of you. You would please link John Smith Ferguson to his Mother, Nancy Minerva (Howell) Ferguson # 1523155532. Right now he is only linked to his Father, James Harvey Ferguson.
John Smith Ferguson is Frank's Great Uncle on his Mom's side of the family and we would like to get all the family linked together where possible. We would greatly appreciate it if you would do this for us. We were unable to do it since the link to do so is not there on his page.
Take Care and May God Bless You and Your Dad.
Love, Frank & Pat Fairchild

The marker photo you attached to memorial 70305559 for Samuel Pennell is actually the marker for Richard Vance Pennell. It is also correctly attached to Richard's memorial.
|Bobbie Siliven||Dorris Jean Lavitich|
I am doing research for a a friend at work and Dorris is in her line. Dorris parents were Thomas Milton Hutchens and Margaret (Maggie) Hutchinson. Both parents were born in North Carolina.

I get a kick out of the description of people who say they don't work, yet their contributions to society are far greater than many top CEOs -especially here on FIND-A-Grave!! You are one of those people, and I was inspired by your description of how you find a HOME among your couzzens in Wilkes County!! I hope to find a home for ALL the displaced persons, by helping los veteranos discover their majestic heritage/herencia majestuosa by researching their Family names, and writing/blogging about their experiences. Ultimately, the reward will be to MEET our loved ones on the Other Side,and they will remind us all of the time we recorded their names in The Book of RE-MEM-Branches - Malachi 3:16. This is the Hope...to Bring His Light to the World, where loved ones have gone to Prepare for His Return...where we who remain will Meet them in the Clouds of Heaven, and bring again His Peace on the Earth!!!

thank you for this transfer.
|Deborah Marsh||Zeb Parks Marsh|
Zeb Parks Marsh is my Grandfather. Thank you for posting this information and photos of his grave. I didn't know much about my real Father's family while growing up. I did visit a few times in my youth and always loved my Grandpa Parks and Grandma Jessie Marsh.
He did have one child named Harold Dewey Marsh who was my biological Father.
