|Jan Bos from Nijmegen, Holland||Sgt Edward R. Bucher Jr|
Sgt Edward R. Bucher Jr was a paratrooper in C Battery 456th Parachute Field Artillery Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division and was severely wounded in action on 11 July 1943 during the battle for Biazza Ridge. He was evacuated and flown back to Africa for medical treatment. Unfortunately he died of his wounds on 12 July 1943.
If Sergeant Bucher Jr would have been killed on the ridge, he would have been buried in the temporary American GELA Cemetery in Sicily. Now he was buried in grave I-4-86 of the temporary American Cemetery Oran, Algeria.
I am writing a book about the GELA Cemetery, where over 1,200 men and women had been buried between July 1943 and April 1947.
After the war his remains were repatriated and reburied in the Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, California.
You took a picture of his grave, can I have your permission to use the picture you took for my book project, of course you will be credited and notified when the book will be finished

Thank you for fulfilling my photo requests. I appreciate the time you you spent to accomplish this at the Rose Hills Memorial Park. Noticed you are A Brown and my father is A Browne. My grandfather added an "e" to Brown when he came through Ellis Island from England. Maybe we are related?
|Bill Daugherty||Isaac Ewing Photo|
Thanks for the photo of Isaac Ewing. I requested updates to his memorial based on your photo.
