THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR VISITS!
I was born & raised in Ironton,Ohio. I now reside in Corbin,Ky. Virgil was my only child. Tony Thibodaux set his Memorial up. He's related on my husbands side of the family. My world revolved around Virgil. He was married & a father of a wonderfull little boy. My hobbies are Wheres George. When I hugged Virgil by that time I never dreamed of it being the last hug he would ever give me.
I DID NOT TAKE THE OATH
I DID NOT TAKE THE OATH;I DID NOT RAISE MY HAND.
ALL I DID WAS HAVE A CHILD WHO GREW TO BE THAT MAN.
HE DID HIS JOB WITH HONOR.
HE WAS NOT AFRAID TO FIGHT;HE WAS NOT AFRAID TO DIE.
THE BABY I HELD IN MY ARMS,THE BOY WHO BECAME A MAN,HE PUT HIMSELF IN DANGER.
HE SAID NOT TO WORRY;HE SAID,"I WILL COME HOME."
THOSE WORDS COME BACK TO HAUNT ME...SPOKEN OVER A PHONE.
THE KNOCK ON THE DOOR IS ALWAYS JUST A MOMENT AGO;THE TEARS IN MY EYES, THE PAIN THAT BREAKS MY SOUL
FOR I DID NOT TAKE THE OATH;I DID NOT RAISE MY HAND.ALL I DID WAS RAISE A CHILD WHO GREW TO BE THAT MAN.
THE BABY THAT I HELD,THE CHILD I WATCHED GROW FILLED MY HEART WITH SO MUCH JOY AS ONLY MOTHERS CAN KNOW THE MEMORIES OF HIS LIFE WILL STAY WITH ME FOREVER. THE CONNECTION OF OUR HEARTS CAN NEVER BE SEVERED.
HE IS NOW A FALLEN HERO AND I A GOLD STAR MOTHER,BECAUSE HE GAVE HIS LIFE. BUT I DID NOT TAKE THE OATH;I DID NOT RAISE MY HAND.
ALL I DID WAS RAISE A BOY WHO GREW TO BE THAT MAN.
It's been almost 5 years now & my pain is still so intense it hurts to breathe. I have found some true friends here. I have been trying to move forward but without Virgil it isn't working. I visit often but somedays I just can't stay online or am away from home. I do notice each visitor Virgil has had while I was away & appreciate everyone remembering him.

RE: Thank you
Hello Mrs. Curnell/ Judy,

Sorry for short delay – So nice you took time to write me for the small tokens I left for your son, Virgil, and “Church” the cat. (I don’t expect anyone to write notes on my page, except relatives.) I’ve seen your remembrances many times before on memorial pages. Hoping you realize how much your efforts are appreciated – you offer so much comfort to others.

Please know it was your loving tribute and special relationship with your son that really touched me, taught me and compelled me to acknowledge you both. I am also very familiar with Ft. Lewis where Virgil was stationed (now, Joint Ft. Lewis Army/ McChord Air Force bases – large strategic installation and health services for that area – a big jumping-off point for military and humanitarian efforts).

Hope it may help to know others sense your profound devotion and love for your son, and that we join to strengthen you from your deep feelings of loss. So glad you have Virgil's son, your grandson -- what wonderful surprises await you in the future!

You remain in our thoughts and prayers, and we will think of you on Memorial Day. I hope we may visit Virgil and ‘Church’ again, sometime soon.

Sending you heartfelt support, always,

~ Connie S-L (“SqueekyWheel~”)
