Bio and Links
Bio Photo Genealogy has become my newest addiction!

Taphophilia = an abnormal love for graves and cemeteries. The love of walking cemeteries and finding lost relatives and the gravesites of ancestors.

*********

If you've never taken a few moments to spend time in the cemetery...You're really missing out. The peace and tranquility you find in them. Those that have gone before many times have left a final message on their tombstones. These messages are an inspiration and make me feel humbled and blessed! Go ahead...take the time...walk your local cemetery and read their messages and see how they reach out and touch you! You'll be glad you did! (quoted from another find-a-graver)

THE STORY TELLERS
We are the chosen. In each family, there is one who seems called to find the ancestors.
To put flesh on their bones and make them live again, to tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve.
Doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts, but instead, breathing life into all who have gone before.
We are the story tellers of the tribe.

STATED BY A FRIEND OF MINE:

"I am getting more and more confused by this site. If people create memorials with no OR incorrect burial location and I add a memorial for them in the correct location... I am asked to remove mine because theirs was on first; If people post memorials in an incorrect burial location and I post a memorial for them in the correct location... I am asked to remove mine.
Doesn't make sense to me!!

"When I go to a cemetery, I don't just see tombstones. I see families there. I see history there. I see much more than just a stone..."

RE: Dr. Perley Isaac Reed
Thanks Anna,

The Reed family is part of my wife's ancestry and I am the family history "geek". I also was contacted through Ancestry by some one who was a childhood acquaintence of Judson Reed and has been looking for him for years. This raised the "mystery" aspect for me and I have tried to help them besides filling out my family tree. The remaining family is his sister and her descendants who live in Wheeling West Virginia and they don't know what happened to him either. Thanks.

Thank you for messaging me about the duplicate memorials. I'll stop at the mausoleum this week to see if they have updated the plaque.

Dr. Perley Isaac Reed
Hi Anna,

I found your memorial page for Perley Isaac Reed and found it very useful in my research. I would be very interested in any info about his immediate family especially his son Judson Wardlaw Reed who seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth after his enlistment in the military in 1942.

RE: re: Reuben J. Culver
Thank you, Anna. It's a shame people can't even have a little respect for the dead.

RE: Nancy Howard Beebe Snow
Hi Anna! Here's what I think I can read on the tombstone:
NANCY
wife of
C.P. SNOW
DIED
June 2, 1875 [looks like 1825]
Age 32 yrs [could be 57]
10 M. & 16 D.

It's really hard to read, though. If you like, I'm willing to send you the actual picture but I don't know how, since these messages are public.

re: Arthur McMahon
Anna, Death certificate lists cemetery as St Marys but didn't indicate whether new or old. Sorry I didn't call cemetery to get correct burial. I did change the cemetery name and if you want to I can have Find A Grave merge the two memorials. Doesn't make any difference to me who manages memorial. Just let me know if you want them merged.
Thanks for your hard work and dedication to Find A Grave.

Donovan
Part of what I was able to determine were the parents of Catherine. They were Timothy and Mary (Sullivan) Donovan. The Donovan name is a common Irish name. I do not know if the ones you found are related or not -- will have to do more research to find that out as I only have parent's names now.
I did find several Hammett/Hammat family members on the index you sent that had not had memorials created. Most were in Reno. Thanks for the link.
The work you (and Human and other photographer/memoerial creators (your Find A Grave friend list includes so many that have helped me out) is so appreciated.

Sullivan
Anna, Thanks for the link. Yes, Patrick and Catherine are both listed. So is their son, John J.

We are back from the west coast where we went to photograph graves of my husband's family. We had them from before but the family has had the stones "lifted" and straightened so new photos were in order. Also got to see family and to visit with an "old" Marietta/Parkersburg friend now in WA state. Great trip and now I'm ready to tackle family history again.
I'm sure I am going to find more listed in that link you sent!!

Sullivan/Dnovan
Anna, I got sidetracked by messages to Human. Unbelievable!!

I have been able to verify some information on Catherine and Patrick Sullivan (including their parent's names) because of your entries and your finding them buried in Marietta instead of moving elsewhere. Mom had said they were buried at Old St Mary's but had no proof of it. Thanks to you we now have it - and more. Thank you.
