|Steve Bench||RE: Mahala Kinser Criger|
Sorry, my knowledge on the Kinsers is not as complete as some of my other lines. I know the names of 11 of Valentine and Mahala's children and who some of them married but that's about it. I know that two of Ester Hargis's brothers, Joseph and Nicholas, came to Missouri. I know who six of Joseph's children were but know nothing of Nicholas. I do know there were several Kinser-Criger marriages as well as several Kinser-Lea marriages. All three families obviously knew each other in Virginia before coming to Missouri. You must be related to Ricker Maddy. He is descended from Elizabeth (Criger) Burks. Again, sorry I couldn't help.

Thank you so much for transferring the Breedlove memorial to us, we really appreciate it!
|Steve Bench||RE: Barton|
Evelyn Atkinson is my dad's first cousin. I live in Springfield. I have been researching my family history since 1974 when I was 17 years old. Do you happen to know if anyone has the records of who were buried at Panther Valley. John and Sarah (Vaughn) Bookout are supposed to be buried there but I have never been able to find any readable stones to them. I am descended twice from this couple, once through their son James Oliver "Jimmy" Bookout and once through their daughter Malinda (Bookout) Brown. Malinda is buried at Green Hill but no one seems to know where Jimmy is buried although I suspect he is at Sunrise. He died the same weekend as John Wesley Ragsdale (his next door neighbor and his niece's husband). John and Elenor (Ragan) Ragsdale are buried at Sunrise as is Mary (Bookout) Ragan and Anna Bookout, both sister's of Jimmy. According to an old source his sister Susannah (Bookout) Cornelison-Isreal is buried there also. Sister Sarah (Bookout) Pogue is buried at Mt. Olive and sister Delilah Sweet is buried at Panther Valley. Sister Eleanor (Bookout) Bennett is buried at Shiloh.
I am also descended twice from Elisha and Martha (Stanley) Brown, once through their son William C. Brown and once through their son Elisha J. Brown (who was married to Malinda Bookout). Both sons are buried at Green Hill as well as most of their children. I also have four pairs of gr-gr-grandparents and two pairs of gr-grandparents at Union Chapel Cemetery. Both pairs of grandparents, one pair of gr-grandparents, and my parents are buried at West Finley. I also have a pair of 4th gr-grandparents, James and Elizabeth Williams, buried at Fordland and three 3rd gr-grandparents buried at Easter Cemetery. I also have a 3rd gr-grandparent, Polly Steele buried at Marshfield.
I have a brother Richard who is also on Find A Grave.
I assume your maiden name is Barton, and you list Mt. Olive as one of your family cemeteries. You wouldn't be descended from Sterling Barton and Nancy Pogue, would you? I have family in Panther Valley, Fordland, and am related to almost everyone in Green Hill. My ancestral names are Bench, Hargis, Swearengin, Moses, Steele, Pace, Hays, Roberts, Brown, Kershner, Bookout, Butler, Williams, and Hayden.
