It looks like it might say Confed.....?
Would it be possible to find out what this does say (another picture?)

That's just it, until I saw where you listed the father as Leaper Hale I had no idea even his name. Harmon Dugan Hardie married Eliza Virginia Hale. They are my great-grandparents. My great-grandmother never talked about her family. They did know an "Old Uncle Albert" (which cracks me up because in going through all the old pictures I did indeed find one of this nice looking elderly man and on the back, in my grandmother's very own handwriting, was "Old Uncle Albert haha). Other than that, there is no information. I suspect he died rather young and the mother remarried. I understand my great-grandmother did not have a happy childhood. So when I came to Pa and Ma Hardie's page and saw where you put Leeper Hale I got very excited. Very excited. I have a name but can find absolutely nothing on him. I'm curious as to why Rone was not put on this Memorial # 25751993. I believe this is my Grandfather's first wife, but I know her as Lennie Suggs-Rone. Seems like that tombstone needs to be cleaned and reset. Shame. If you know this to be her you can assign her to me and I can add information to this tombstone.

| Hervey Cemetery
Hello D Ann,
Can you tell me anything about the Hervey Cem? Several of the graves are for 1847 & 48 to include some Carringtons and earlier, 1845, for Robert Carrington. I wonder if this cemetery is on the original "Caruse" plantation which Robert put together in 1837? There are a couple of graves without stones on the Find A Grave sites but perhaps they do exist/

Hi D Ann!
Ma and Pa Hardie were my great grandparents. They were gone long before I came along but I have visited their graves many times and have heard many stories about them. I was wondering where you got the name LEEPER HALE my great-great grandfather. I have been looking and looking and looking on information about him and his family and am having no luck. Can you help? And thanks for taking these pictures.

Hi again, there are two pages on here for him, this one and another one under J. Earl Butler, and that is where the photo is, but it's an older photo taken before he died in 2008. Also there are some errors in the obit on here, he was a member of First Baptist Church of El Sobrante; his son lives in Benicia and he lived in San Pablo.
