USGS correcting Feuersville spelling
I received an email from the U.S. Geological Survey yesterday saying they had done more research and were correcting the place name to Feuersville from Fuersville. It is nice to know they were willing to look at the evidence and make a correction.

Mary Ann Ireland Backues
Sanford and Mary Ann Backues were my ggg grandparents. My
records show she was born on February 11, 1784 and died on
March 11, 1870. I do not have her place of birth. My mother was
Zillah Martha Backues Elrod, daughter of Martin Thomas and Martha
Shanks Backues.

Thank you for the link to her father. I am not related. If you are related and would like management of her memorial and any other ones I have, please just ask. You did a great job on her father Levi's memorial.

Thanks.

More fun with Feuers - or maybe not -
I found someone who has been researching the Feuer(s) family, who has been to the cemetery, and you can look at the discussion on our public pages. (He allows only public, not private email messages.) Go to my page first, then you can bounce back and forth. I guess I just love a mystery, and there is hardly anything more confusing than old cemeteries and antique family relationships. It's even more confusing in Saline County even though our old cemeteries are on historic plat maps. I asked the Feuers researcher a lot of questions directly and indirectly. I also asked him to input on correcting the Feuersville place name spelling with the U.S. Geological Survey and gave him a link to the go-to guy in Rolla, MO.
