Barbara E. Bowers #14969720
Thank you for entering and posting the photograph for Barbara E. Bowers. I have sent you some edits for her. She is the dt. of Rev. John Rider a United Brethren Minister. She also married a minister. Many families from Bedford PA moved to Iowa in the 1850's. It is nice to be able to find memorials for them. The cemetery that Rev. John Rider is in is not in the best shape but it is maintained though many of the memorials are becoming unreadable or are missing.

Claude Winingham
I just noticed that the family of Claude Winingham has two siblings, Henry O. Winingham and Florence Winingham Coffman listed as half siblings. They are all full brothers and sisters having the same two parents. These are my grandfather's siblings. Thank you.

James H. Winingham
Father of Claude O. Winingham. I am requesting this change because I discovered that this same man is listed in both the Towles and Biles cemetery. I have visited the cemetery and he is indeed buried in the Biles cemetery. The Towles listing is being deleted. I am trying to get the whole family listed together so that it will be easier to study the family. I am a great grand daughter of James H. Winingham, being the grand daughter of his son Harvey A. Winingham. The information on the Biles cemetery is correct. Sorry for the trouble but I thank you very much.

RE: Joined FAG just days apart
I've been a member for FOURTEEN YEARS?!? It seems like fourteen months, if that. I do remember when the Findagrave record count was in the 20 million range.

RE: CISSNE
You're welcome...glad to help you out! All your Cissne requests were all on one stone, so you might want to note that on their memorials. The side that had Nancy Cissne was barely legible. I tried to take a good picture of it...if you want me to post it to her memorial, let me know. I still have the photo on my camera.

Hi,

I can't delete the picture for Find A Grave# 88639979. Are you able to do it since you added it?

Sammie Burton Van Cleave
I didn't say I had his death certificate but his birth certificate. I can't send it to you in this format. I would need your e-mail address to send it as an attachment. Here is what it says though: Sammie Burton Vancleave, born 30 May 1917 in Scott Twp., Poweshiek Co., IA to S. P. Vancleave & Mildred Laura Ingram.

I know that the mother's maiden name here is Ingram but I believe that was an error for everywhere else the name is Ingraham. I have the census of her with her family and her father, Samuel Ingraham, lived with Sammie and Mildred following the death of his wife. Here is the obituary for Samuel Burton's father, Samuel P. Van Cleave, which gives his wife's maiden name and their wedding date:

Montezuma Republican (Montezuma, IA) September 25, 1969
Van Cleave Services Conducted Sunday

Funeral services for Sam P. Van Cleave were conducted by the Rev. Lester Hall Sunday afternoon, Sept. 21, at the Steffy Funeral Home. Music was provided by William Rempp, soloist, accompanied by Miss Alice Underwood.
Casket bearers were Thomas Ross, Gary VanCleave, Phillip VanCleave, Gerald Baustian, Jack VanCleave and Michael VanCleave. Interment was in Jackson Township Cemetery.
Mr. VanCleave, 80, passed away Friday, Sept. 19, at an Ottumwa hospital.
The son of Laura and James Van Cleave, he was born at Aurora, Nebr., on March 8, 1889. When a child his parents moved to a farm near Peoria, Iowa, where he attended school.
On Feb. 10, 1915, he was united in marriage with Millie Ingraham and to this union two sons were born. They made their home on farms in the Gibson and Brooklyn communities. Later he graduated from barber school in Des Moines and engaged in the trade in Montezuma as long as his health permitted.
He was a member of the Methodist Church, a past Chancellor-Commander of the Knights of Pythias and a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
He was preceded in death by his son, Burton, in 1964.
He is survived by his wife; their son, Phillip and wife, Marguerite of Washington; four grandchildren, Capt. Gary B. Van Cleave of Chanute Field, Ill., Phillip, Nancy and Michael of Washington, Iowa; four great-grandchildren; and his daughter-in-law, Marguerite Cratty.

I hopes this helps clarify some of this complicated family.

The person that posted two photos of his marker gave me permission to use them. Thanks for your reply.
