RE: Sarah Snapp
P.S. - I'll take a look at my notes and send you any additions for Sarah's biography in a few days. Right now, I'm busy making sure I'm "in compliance" on other memorials! :-)

RE: Sarah Snapp
Thanks, Ruth. Unfortunately, I'm now editing a lot on my memorials. I found myself locked out of memorials yesterday, including my own father's! I didn't realize it earlier, but that image I posted of the All Saints Day church service in dad's honor was a violation of the current Find-A-Grave rules. Apparently, the F-A-G rules (posted in the FAQs) changed in 2012, and we are held accountable for the new rules even on images that were posted prior to that time. So, no more "public domain" items like Census records you obtained personally or historical newspaper articles, can be posted. I'm searching through the 633 family memorials I have and deleting, deleting, deleting! I was also told that those ~~~ I was placing on the sponsored memorials, to expand them to fill the ad space that was cleared when I paid for the sponsorships, was forbidden. I'm a "follower of rules" when I know what they are... but now I sure wish I hadn't wasted $535 on sponsorships. If you've added any "extras" to your memorials, I'd recommend you go back and delete them too. Yesterday was certainly not fun for me, and I wouldn't want the same to happen to anyone else!

RE: Oscar A. Rankin gravestone
The office staff at Fairmount are incredibly helpful. It might be easiest to try to contact them by phone. All of the contact information--mailing address, phone number, link to website-- are on the main page for the cemetery. Hope they have something on file that can help you solve your mystery. Good luck!

RE: Oscar A. Rankin gravestone
No, I'm sorry. I don't have any other information about him. You might try the cemetery office. They are always nice and may have some additional detail that would help you determine whether this Oscar Rankin is the one you're looking for. Sorry I couldn't help-- good luck!

RE: Obituaries
My laptop died. It took me two weeks to get a new one - I think I have 54 changes to make - yikes - it was 40 in red and then when I got those 40 done, there were 14 more. The new laptop is awesome - I'm just learning to use it so I may be slow for a while. Thanks for your help.

Morrison Beall Giffen
Ruth, Thank you so much for transferring Morrison's memorial to me. My brother and I are attempting to connect as many of our Giffen ancestors as we can. Please let me know if you ever have genealogy questions concerning Belmont County, Ohio. ~Skip

RE: Fred Shaw
Sure - he has to be somewhere - that's the theory on my great uncle Harry Mc. Putney - his wife died in Ramsey County MN, but he was already dead when she moved there from Galesburg, IL - someone will happen upon his grave someday and I will have all of my great uncles accounted for! His daughter is buried in Illinois, but his son is buried in Minnesota - I think that's why his widow went to MN, to live with the son. Ah, well - I'm done for the night - found a very important book tonight that's been missing for years - FINALLY! A librarian copied it for me years ago, but I misplaced it - the search has been on for years.

No, I'm sorry - she asked me a few days ago. I only have Rosa Cox married to Emil Peterson. I don't know anything about Fred Cooper, but I'll keep my eyes out for him.

RE: Lloyd Rankin
Thank You! I attempted to retire from obituaries, but that lasted about half a day! I found six obituaries today from 1967 - 1968 and sent them to the people who had put the people on Find A Grave. So much for retirement. Ruth

RE: Source for Obituaries
I know - this is my second time through the book! It's LONG. Some of the names are wrong, but I've been able to figure out most of them.
