Bio Photo Please submit any additions, corrections, biographies, family links or requests for transfer to me under "EDIT" and "SUGGEST A CORRECTION" on the memorial site. Due to email messages going to SPAM or JUNK mail, if you don't use the "EDIT" tab, your request will probably not get processed.

My interest for genealogy started 30 yrs ago and hasn't waned. The main area of interest is NE Kansas, but has spread elsewhere due to the expansion of family to all parts of the country.

Transfers for memorials outside of FAG's guidelines will be considered, unless they are within my family. Please include your relationship with your request! If relationship is not included, the transfer will not be made. Please use the "EDIT" to make your requests.

Thanks to all the volunteers for finding gravesites and photographing them for me. I am happy to try and do the same. Please feel free to use any of the gravesite photos for your family history.

Buried in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Atchison, Atchison Co., KS.-wife of Albert Seibert. Would you happen to know her maiden name? I have been unable to locate it.

Thanks,

RE: Samuel Townsend
You may use the photo if you would like. I have no problem with that. Yes I am related to the Townsend family. I would love to have more information on the relationship with Rainy if you would be willing to share. I also have information if you are interested. You can contact me at dianaf00@roadrunner.com.

Hello, Since you only have two Pruntys listed and I have their father and the recognized Prunty progenitor John Sr., can you transfer your Pruntys to me. I will take care of them. Thank you.

Meriden, KS; Schultheiss & Bux surnames
Hello "K-B"!

I am hard at work on my family's genealogy and am researching family that was buried in St. Aloysius Cemetery in Meriden, Jefferson County, Kansas. I see that many pictures of tombstones in the cemetery were credited to you, and so I have some questions for you . . .

First, do you live in the Meriden area, and are you pretty familiar with the cemetery?

Then, if you are familiar with the physical layout of the cemetery, I am looking for a tombstone for an infant, Mary Schultheiss (ca. 1880-81-----ca. 1880-81). I see that the church was founded in 1880, but I don't know when the cemetery came into use. The find-a-grave site for St. Aloysius does not show a gravestone for Mary in its' list of interments, but I figured it never hurt to double check.

My Mary Schultheiss was likely born and died sometime between October 1880 and springtime 1881. We know she was born in the Meriden area, and died there before her parents moved south in the springtime of 1881.

Mary's grandparents, John Bux (1828-1914) and Barbara (Fiernka) Bux (1829-1906), however, stayed in the area and were buried in St. Aloysius Cemetery; they died about 35 years after Mary died.

The earliest tombstones I saw listed in the cemetery from find-a-grave were:
Edward McGuire 1887
Kate McCue 1887
John Cunningham 1890
James McGreevey 1894
Infant McGreevey 1897
Charles Hunter 1899

Again, Mary Schultheiss died ca. 1880-81.

Then, the next set of older tombstones seem to be from about 1902-1906. I'm wondering if those, the oldest tombstones, were sort of placed in one part of the cemetery, and might there have been an unidentified stone in the area that might match to be Mary Schultheiss' tombstone?

Then, if not, is there an additional stone of some sort with the Bux graves that might indicate a child had been buried there, too?

I do know Mary's parents were married in Topeka, which makes sense if they married in January 1880, and the church was only founded that year. If you are from Meriden, or are familiar with the area, do you have an idea of what Catholic Church in Topeka may have been the church used by the German Catholics in Meriden? If Mary was not buried at St. Aloysius, what was the Catholic cemetery used before St. Aloysius Cemetery came into use?

I will post this to you on the site, too, to be certain you receive the query.

Thank you for any help you can give to me in this area. If you have any suggestions, let me know!

Warm regards!

John Graham FAGl# 54864258
I am looking for the Kansas gravesite of a John Graham who was born 1875 and appears to have died about 1895 as a 20 year old. He is listed in the 1880 US Census and in the 1885 & 1895 Kansas Census but not listed in a family will shortly thereafter. He has family buried in this same cemetery. Is there a possibility that 1875 death date listed on the memorial should be his birth date and his death 1895? Do you have further information.
