|I started adding to Find a grave out of duty. I have recieved so much information for my genealogy research based on the works of others. I felt it was time to give back to the field. I also have a keen interest in local history and enjoy walking through cemeteries and reading the headstones. You can learn a lot about a town's history by viewing its dead. |
I can promise you there are mistakes in my work I am more then happy to correct errors found in it. E mail me with any corrections or if you have additions to any entry please feel free to let me know.
As you read entries you may note some do not have a death date on them. I have no evidence one way or the other as to if that person is alive or not. I choose to list the person with disclaimer so that the entire cemetery may be listed on the site.
I do try and go through an entire cemetery and list all stones in it. As I do not have long lunch breaks I can often get only a few stones at a time. With such time constraints I cannot always clean up a stone for proper picture taking. If your family has a less then flattering stone I am sorry for that. You may let me know. If I get time I will go back and retake that picture for you.
This project has been fun and rewarding. If you have not ever entered information and taken pictures I highly recomend it. It is not without its faults though. I have run into snakes and have been bitten by a dog in the process of this project. That is a minor problem though. All people deserve to be remembered. The Good Lord took the time to make them and no mater how brief their life that makes it worth remembering.

Elisha had 11 children. I know this because I have his will. The one you are missing is Floretta C.
born 22 Jan 1843 (OH) and died 09 Mar 1896 in Minden, NE. She married John George Whiteleather
16 Oct 1862. He was born Nov 1836 in Knox, CO, died 1944. I have a photo of her headstone that I will add once her info is added.
In regard to Elisha's DOD I too have seen both dates used. In the obit I posted from the Minden Gazette I calculate his funeral was Jan 19. First I thought that was a along time to keep him waiting if he died on Jan 7. But then it came to me that we are talking about NE in the dead of winter. Also one of his sons who lived in MO attended the funeral. That would have been difficult if the DOD
was 17 Jan. I guess I am inclined to use the 07 Jan DOD.
Thank you for processing the edits for Margaret Grace Thomson Ford.

Steve, I'm thinking this is Virgil A. Dihel born 1892 in Polk Co. MO to Joseph and Alice (Hutchins) Dihel (1910 census). If you agree please link to mother # 38772613.

My husband & are going on vacation and one of our goals is to catch-up on Find A Grave Memorials. We would like for you to transfer his two grand parents to us for this project. These were his beloved favorites & we will work on the project together with great respect. I have researched his family tree for years & I feel I know them like my own. This is a joint effort, my Find A Grave # is 47368227. Hallie & Aner deserve to have special pages since they were special people.
Aner's Find A Grave # is - 37565681
Hallie's is - 37565713
Thank you for your time,
Kayla & Syd Snyder
