I Dan,
Thanks for updating. I am a very very distant relative, no sure how to count cousins. I am new at this. What is involved? Roberta

Carl Thrane
Dear Dan,

I am researching my paternal grandfather's WWI army unit, Company B, 355th Infantry, 89th Division. According to the National Directory of the 355th Infantry, published long ago, shows Carl C. Thrane as having served with this unit.

I'm not sure where I'm headed with my research at this time, but I want to think I'll eventually publish something. If I do, would it be permissible to use your photograph of Carl Thrane's grave?

Thank you!

I just thought you might like to know that I have found a web site that lists 300,000 individuals who were born in this section of France. It lists their names, birth/death/marriage dates, parents, spouse, children and siblings! Through going those these records, I have been able to link all 15 of the Jaussaud immigrants to Southern California as either siblings or first cousins. There is another web site where I have been able to actually obtain their birth/marriage/death/military and census records. I have tons of them now - but not all. I had no idea that so many records were available in France - basically from about 1817 to the early 1900's. However, these aren't indexed, and you have to know the commune (small town) where they came from.

I also just wanted to thank you again for all your help and taking pictures and establishing these memorials.
