Bio Photo Update April 2, 2015: Due to health issues I have not been able to answer e-mails for the last two months and have been slow with regard to the edit request approvals.

If I havn't answered your email, it doesn't mean I will not, hopefully I'll be back soon and will get to the backlog.

Thank you.

Cemeteries are such unique places. I enjoy the beauty of sculptures, mausoleums and various items around the interred. The statuary, the iconic images, representative symbols, old rod iron fencing; it is all fascinating. From the most elaborate statue to the simply inscribed piece of wood.

There is so much mystery in a cemetery. Stories that are told and stories to wonder about and stories to find out about.

I am a 4th generation San Franciscan and have lived in Marin County for over three decades.

I enjoy taking photographs of the surroundings and capturing the beauty of the burial plot. I do my best to capture the entire tombstone in as pretty a shot as I can manage. I continually watch for seasonal changes or offerings to capture a better representation of the marker and view.

I spend a great deal of time in cemeteries; both physically and virtually. I photograph and document a select number of cemeteries in the counties of Marin, Sonoma and Mendocino as well as San Francisco and Colma.

I have finished photographing the following cemeteries in rural West Marin, Olema, Bolinas, Tomales Presbyterian, Tomales Catholic and Marshall. Have photographed B'nai Israel, Fernwood, Little Lake and Willits with continual visits for additions.

Please do not send me full obits, as I will not post them. If you want to take your time and edit out certain points, please do so.

I will not post the names of living individuals per policy.

Thank You!
Thank you for adding the photo for my memorial of my husband's great grandfather, Manuel F. Cunha! Good job in reading that inscription! I've taken your advice on changing the name.

Thanks for letting me know. I had found out that information before I saw your e-mail. I really appreciate it. I only saw one other memorial for Michael and I asked that person to delete their memorial.

Augustin Arrivey
Hello, I was investigating the death of Mary Arrivey for my history blog, and I came upon Gus' findagrave. Would you mind if I use a few of the mug shots for my blog? Also, could you tell me where you found them, for citing source purposes? I will credit you as well. Thank you.

Tree swallowed tombstone
Hi Colletta,
I love your photo! It's sad that handsome old tree finally fell over... Probably due to indigestion.

I'm still looking for burial of Mary Cox 1804 - after June 1870. She was wife of Rev John T Cox. It's possible that she is somewhere in Mendocino County. Please keep her in mind during your graving.

Thanks for all you do!!

Hinton graves in Mendocino County, CA
Dear Coletta:

Thank you so much for taking photographs of my Hinton family graves in Willits Cemetery in Mendocino County, CA.

I found you have my great grandfather, George William Hinton and his son, Tollie George Hinton with Tollie's wife, Adelaide Brewster Hinton.

I am also a Find a grave volunteer -Margie Hinton (#46808268)member for 9 years, 3 months, 29 days - and have been researching my many family lines since I was a child in San Francisco in the 1940s. I do have the family history of the Hinton family who lived in Mendocino County and have been compiling and writing the family biography.

If you wouldn't mind, I could submit a biography of the family for others to read and understand a bit more of the convoluted family from George William Hinton and his two families. Find a grave postings are probably the easiest way for families to locate their ancestors.

I descend from the first marriage of George William Hinton with Mary Cobb (Lake County) and their son, Edward Burnham Hinton. Tollie is the youngest son with George Hinton's second wife, Mattie Malonia Hale - she is buried in Santa Rosa.

I also just spoke with Tollie's adopted daughter, June Rose (her mother was Adelaide Brewster) and she asked me to post a biography for her family too.

I don't want to step on your toes here, and I am physically unable to travel to the cemeteries of my ancestors so this is my way on honoring them.

Thank you,

Margie Hinton (Mojave Desert of CA)

RE: Please read the guidelines
Perhaps you can suggest a way to put sources into the correction requests. I have been accused of using outsourced data without checking it against other sources. This is not accurate.

When findagrave starts paying me for the incredible amount of time that I spend providing free information to their database, they can tell me how to do geneaology. Meanwhile, I have committed to finish HOE. Once I have done that, I plan to make my services available to their competitors.
