I take what I do on Find A Grave very seriously, I don't guess or make up things when I send a SAC, I have researched before I submit. Please if you're going to suggest that I'm guessing, at least include your email address or allow messages to be left on your contributor page.

Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where other cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.

Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.

Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.

Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.

Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.

Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.

Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

The Final Gift

Scatter me not to restless winds
Nor scatter my ashes to the sea
Remember now those years gone by
When loving gifts I gave to thee
Remember now the happy times
The family ties we shared
Don't leave my resting place unmarked
As though you never cared
Deny me not one final gift
For all who come to see
A single lasting proof that says
I loved....and you loved me

RE: Pictures

Any idea where he is buried? I take weekend trips just to get away and I'm always looking for little cemeteries to photograph.

If you live in Reno I'd love to take you to lunch one day when I'm out visiting my son...

Take care

Love you..... Frances

RE: Pictures

I hope you had a great vacation. Someone else has been posting photo's so I'll put on photo's they might have missed.

Are there any other cemteries you've done that might be near Elko that I can take photo's for you. I completed Starr Valley, Cherry Creek No & So, Carlin, Metropolis, Ruby Valley and Montello. Any others that you'd like me to do?

Love you....... Frances

RE: Alex Chalmers
I'm sorry to hear that the headstones have been vandalized. I don't understand how anyone can do something like that.

The cemetery could be wrong. I have sent for death certificates that tells which cemetery they are buried in. I have a LOT of relatives buried in Calvary Cemetery. The death certificate says they are buried there. Calvary will tell me there is NO record of that person being buried there. I have to call several times before I can get someone to find the burial record. My ex-husband's great-grandfather is buried there - I have a copy of his death certificate. They have NO record of him. I've been fighting with them for over 6 months for them to find him. It's a HUGE cemetery. They tried to tell me that he may not have a stone but his son died at 19 and I know he had a headstone for him. They have NO record for him either. Drives me crazy.

Good luck! Been there, done that.

Alex Chalmers

I requested a photo of his headstone on Find A Grave. I got this reply tonight.

Greetings from Find A Grave,

We are writing to let you know that a Find A Grave volunteer has reported a problem with your photo request for Alex Chalmers.

The general problem they reported is:
Cemetery office has no record of this person

They also reported, specifically:
The only Chalmers in Hillside Cemetery is a Millie Sophia Chalmers.

Due to this problem, we believe that this photo request can not be fulfilled. As a result, we are removing it. If you can fix the problems that were reported and believe a photo can be acquired, please feel free to make a new request.

Jehiel B. Caven Memorial
Do you know if Jehiel B. Caven (memorial #14235406) Parent where John & Elizabeth (Neyman) Caven? Or if his brother was Shepard Caven?

Memorial 20657525
I think the name on this memorial should be Leonora Todd Phillips, not Leonard Phillips. She was married to Albert R. Phillips, also buried in this cemetery, and died on the same date as shown in your memorial.
