I am an American history lover with Northern and Southern roots. I love history, names, and solving problems. It was just a matter of time before I got into genealogy! |
None of the memorials I have posted are my relatives, and hence I have not researched them. I do try to add some detail to memorials though in an effort to identify them.
If you want to write me about any of the memorials I've created, please leave a message on this page. To suggest a correction or edition for a particular memorial, please use the Edit button at the top of its page, and I'd appreciate it if you would state where your information comes from.
If I have posted a memorial of one of your relatives and you would like the memorial transferred to you, please use the method that FindaGrave has provided, which is thus: Go to the memorial page and click the Edit button. Of the choices that follow, click on "Suggest any other correction or addition." This will bring up a message box for you to write me, and the email FindaGrave sends will include a link to the memorial as well as to your profile page. Simply write me a note requesting the transfer, and please state how you are related to the person.
If there is an article that I have posted that you can use, feel free to copy it. All articles are in the public domain, that is, not copyrighted anymore, so you do not need my permission to use them. You'll find the source of the articles in the picture's caption.
Last, any gravestone pictures I shot myself as well as I could. Please copy and use them! Post them in your family tree on Ancestry or wherever. That's why I took them.
FindaGrave is a great website even though it's basically all about deaths! Still, it makes me think of the verse "And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life." (I John 5:11)

My partner is a Ladd relative, so the transfer would be just fine! Thanks!

Oh my goodness Julia, I am so sorry that I missed your last reply. Thank you so incredibly much for the information. I have struggled with my Dad's line sooooo much. You may have just shed some light on the subject for me.
Hope you are having a wonderful summer. Stay cool, stay safe.
P.S. I have looked at Seeking Michigan in the past. I don't find their website very easy to narrow things down a bit. But I will keep looking. :)

Thanks for your postings regarding the Coles family at the Park Cemetery. As a volunteer at the Marquette History Center I was assigned to role pay a Mr. William G. Cole who was a great lakes ship's captain. William is buried in Park cemetery and his stone is a 3 foot by 5 foot memorial he purchased himself.
I will present my little talk tomorrow at the cemetery. I've been a bit nervous about it because there are several Coles buried there and I wasn't certain who was who. It would just be my luck for someone in the crowd to ask me about those other stones. Now, I have some answers for them.

Hi Julie! My Alfred is the one who died in 1907. I am curious to know about his father's name being John Nelson however. I would love to have his memorial transferred to me if possible. Do you happen to have any documents on him or any of his family members by chance.
Thanks so much.

OMG!!!! Julia!! Are you related to Alfred Johnson father to Ragnar, Adolph, Rudolph, John, Phillip, etc?
OMG!!! Rudolph is my Grandfather who died when my father was a young boy!!! OMG!! Sorry, a bit overwhelmed. These folks have been sooooo incredibly hard to trace! I do have them all listed in my Grandfather's obituary from 1939 in WA State.
I would love to connect and share if possible please. Thank you sooooo very much! I may have a few photos I can share with you as well.
