I have been interested in Genealogy for quite a few years. I stumbled upon Find A Grave when I was using Ancestry.com and decided that this was something I would enjoy doing. So, my latest hobby was born. I enjoy going to cemeteries and taking photos to upload to this site. Others have done the same for me. It means the world to me to be able to see the grave sites of those who came before me.
Through research I have discovered that about 17 or so generations back on my father's side, I have 2 Princes of Wales and a King of Wales in my lineage.
Recently I connected with a distant cousin through this site and was able to find out some amazing things about my father's family.
I am researching the Ross family of Shubert, Nebraska primarily. I am also interested in the Parent family of Ascension Parish, Louisiana as well.
We are the chosen. In each family there is one (or more) who seems called to find the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again. To tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve. Doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead, breathing life into all who have gone before. We are the story tellers of the tribe. All tribes (hopefully) have at least one. We have been called, as it were, by our genes. Those who have gone before cry out to us: Tell our story. So, we do. In finding them, we somehow find ourselves.

Dear Joy -
Thank you so much for the photo of Rosie's resting place. She must have had a rough "life."
Again, I appreciate your efforts.

Hey do you live in San Joaquin County, CA? Because one of my distant cousins died in Tracy, CA, and I was wondering if you lookup obituaries too?

We went with a list of 6 stones to find for folks and 5 of the 6 weren't on the interment listing so we walked the entire 1300+ cemetery to make absolutely sure those 5 graves weren't there. There are a dozen or so very, very old weathered, illegible stones there but - again- her name isn't on the interment listing.Always feel badly when we can't find a stone. There are lots of Pattons at this cemetery but there are Pattons at several of the cemeteries in the area.
