RE: John W Galyon,
The only thing I have found is a record on, U. S. Civil War Soldiers, 1861 - 1865, reflecting John Galyon (alternate name John W. Gallion) as a private (Wagoner) in the 6th Tennessee Cavalry Regiment, USA. I'll keep looking to see if I can come up with anything further.

I've just posted pix of Edna, Mahlon and Frank on their respective memorials. Now you know where Frank is.

Descendants of John Banta
I have Henry's line to present day, and Fred's through his children (none of who had issue save perhaps Willie who reportedly died in an accident in Alaska on an date unknown to me. It is possible that he had children before this happened). I am in regular contact with a direct descendant of Issac Banta who lives in Washington State. I also have the CW pension fils for John "Sr", Warren's widow, Henry, Fred, and John Emerson Banta. If you emailed me at with a regular mailing address I could send you all five of these, a copy of the 500+ page mansucript Lincoln's Hammer, the book I've written about Henry in the Civil War, and the family history I am currently working on - all burned to a CD.

I, too, am working on the Droud line today. GW Droud, Christine's husband, was apparently a first cousin of Oliver Droud who served with Henry in the 17th Indiana Infantry.

I am "updating" the Banta family genealogy done by Theodore M. Banta in 1893. Have I concluded correctly that you, Shar R., are a descendant of Malinda Banta Myers, an older sister of Henry Banta who moved from Collamer to Fresno, California, in 1885 and passed there in 1921? Although I am not related, I became interested in Henry because a copy of his civil war diary is archived at the Fresno County Library.

RE: Edits tab
Yes, I am aware of it and have done many edits. Love the simplicity of it, but have been a bit lax on doing the edits. I try for once a week at least, but I have not even had time to get on my computer lately.

RE: John Emerson Banta

We were actually out photographing in another cemetery. We stopped by Arlington just to see if we could locate any of the requests. We photograph any of the same surname that is any where near the request in hopes of keeping family together. So no there isn't another that we saw near by that we saw. I can tell you though that the cemetery is no where near up. Quite large.

RE: John Emerson Banta
You are very welcome.
He was right with the other Banta's. It is such a treasure to find those markers.

RE: Edit Tab for awaiting updates
Thank you for the info. I was not aware of the changes made with editing. I cleared the ones that were pending and I will make sure to check daily.
