Hi Kristen,

We're you ever able to find the divorce papers for Zachariah and Nelly? I am still interested in them. Also have you ever found any trace of Polly Goodman or William Rayburn after their divorces? I have never been able to figure out where William Rayburn came from before his marriage to Eliza or went afterwards. The only clue I have is that their son Robert was named after his grandfather.

RE: Blunt/Blount line
In passing, I have not contributed a lot of time and effort on the ROBERTS families in the past, as a result, most information i've obtained surrounds their connection with a BLOUNT, and I'm not sure of the accuracy. I'd like to glean the results of your research, therefore, I'd like to ask you for the Family Sheets for Lewis Corbin R., Henley R., William R., and John R.
If you agree, I could send you my address and a check so that you could mail me the info with no rush involved. --ddh

RE: Blunt/Blount line
Yes, I received all the documents. Thank you.
Not to change the subject, but I have a bunch of ancestors that sprang fro Nicholas County by the name of HERRIN. As a matter of fact John HERRIN b 1826, in 1876 was elected to the office of Deputy Sheriff, which he held two terms. In 1880 he was elected High Sheriff of Nicholas County. Hes my 2nd g grandfather.

In another vein, since you are studying the
ROBERTS, our subject Reading BLOUNTs grandson, Martin Van Buren BLOUNT m Nancy ROBERTS>Lewis Corbin,b 1813>Henley,b 1777>William, b 1724>John.
Does this jive with what you have?

RE: Blunt/Blount line
Reading probably has a reason to TELL people where he was going, and perhaps faked his death. I really don't know the truth of the story, I followed along like others with the only info available, seemingly.
When time permits, please send me your info on him and I'll change my family data to reflect same.

Also, all I have on Minor ROBERTS is that he married Jeminma ROBERTS, daug. of Reading Blount & Abigail AMBROSE. Is that correct? I'm not sure. Whatever you have for his family, I'd appreciate your sending it to me when time permits. --ddh

The 1788 militia record lists "Reden" Blunt as having sons, Siras and Andrew over 16 years of age [Cyrus, 18; Andrew, 16]. After 16 MAR 1791, Reading and his family joined his eldest son, Cyrus [now 21yo], and his family near Paris,Bourbon,KY where Cyrus had moved the previous year (1790). The 18 DEC 1792 tax records in Bourbon County show Reading being taxed, and his widow last being taxed in 1795.
SOURCE: "Reading Blunt of Virginia and Kentucky" article by Miss Leona R. Wir of Guilford,NY, published by Magazine of Detroit Society for Genealogical Research 1959-1960; Some Colonial and Revolutionary Families of North Carolina, Vol. I, II, III by Marilou Buren Smallwood, Eatman,GA 1969-1976.
The name combination of Reading Blount first appears with the marriage of Thomas Blount, son of Capt. Thomas Blount, and Anne Reading, daughter of Lionel Reading. It has never been proven that Reading is the Grandson of these people, but the dates, name and location have made it a strong possibility. Until proof is found one way or the other our line ends with Reading and Abigail. Reading & Abigail were in Tyrone TWN, Bedford, PA in 1773 and in that part of ,Rockingham,VA 1789-1791. The family lived near Circleville on the North Fork of the South Branch of the Potomac River. According to the original tax records in Richmond, VA, Reading was a member of Captain Isaac Hinckle's Militia Company in Rockingham County, VA from 1782 through 1788. Since militia service is credited as Revolutionary service, Reading served in the American Revolutionary War 6/10/1782-9/3/1783.
