It is the love of family history makes us smile. Each new find, each new puzzle piece brings the story into closer focus. We enjoy roaming old cemeteries and taking pictures that we hope will help others tell their family story.|
Any and all pictures we take can be used without any further contact, we took them for your use. Please don't use them to make a profit without our consent. They are for your personal/family use. Thank you for allowing us to help and enjoy your search.
In an effort to eliminate "dead Memorials", I give Find a Grave staff full permission to transfer any of the Memorials I maintain to whomever wants to maintain them upon my death.
We understand that none of us are perfect and we are all volunteers. With that in mind we always try to treat everyone with the utmost respect and hope you will show that to us as well. Together we can do amazing things. Happy Researching!

|Molly H.||I created a memorial for Mary Leahy|
I sent you an edit for your Mother memorial to go back to Mother.
I created a new memorial for Mary Hennessey Leahy.
I sincerely apologize for the confusion. I was confused because you had Mary Hennessey Leahy's death date and plot number on the Mother Leahy memorial.
Thank you for your patience. Of course we can wait until the weather is nice in the spring or summer to try to figure out who Mother and Father Leahy were and what their plot number is.
Again, I am sorry for the confusion as I tried to sort al this out. And I thank you sincerely for all of your kind volunteer work and for your patience with my trying to sort this out.
I wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving, and I am thankful and grateful for the work that you do.

|Molly H.||Mary Hennessey Leahy|
Of course I understand that you cannot go back to the cemetery until the spring.
The only thing I want to clear up is Mary Hennessey Leahy.
In my edits I asked if you want to simply create another memorial for Mother Leahy.
But maybe it would be easier if I just remove all the info for Mary Hennessy Leahy off of Mother Leahy's memorial.
The reason I added all the info for Mary Hennessey is because you had put Section 44 and you had the death date of Mary Hennessey Leahy.
But I can simply create a new memorial for Mary.
Would that work better for you?

|Molly H.||I'm sorry!|
P.S. I apologize for thinking that Catherine and Thomas belonged to Catherine and John Leahy! Sorry about that!

|Molly H.||Thomas and Catherine Leahy|
Actually, I just realized that the Thomas and Catherine that you have as children of Father Leahy are NOT John and Catherine Leahy's children.
Their son Thomas is memorial 152047882. And their daughter Catherine married a Mulligan and is 152047757. The John Leahy family shares a monument with the Mulligan family.
I wonder who that Thomas and Catherine are who are buried next to Patrick Leahy's monument? Maybe they were children of his who died? But they are not in the cemetery book, as far as I can see. I don't have the whole book, though. Someone photocopied the Leahy pages for me.
I truly respect the work that you do-- it must be SO hard sorting all of this out!!!

I SO appreciate your volunteer work and the multitude of memorials you have created--- I can't tell you how very much. Thank you so very much for all of your hard work!
I am so sorry to bother you with this, but I think you are a bit confused on the Leahys. I am related to at least some of them, maybe all of them, so I would really like to get this straightened out.
I spent a few hours going through all the Leahys in the directories and then through the cemetery books, and through the censuses on Ancestry.
I can't see where the stones are in relation to each other.
But here's the best I can explain it.
The photos you have for Mother and Father Leahy are the photos of Patrick Leahy's monument. He is buried in 46-12-01, according to the cemetery book.
I think your memorials for Father Leahy and the one for Patrick Leahy are the same person, i.e., a duplicate memorial. Unless Patrick was buried with his parents? But they are not in the cemetery book.
You have on Father Leahy's monument that he is buried in 44, which is where MICHAEL Leahy is buried, not Patrick.
The woman who is buried in 44-19 and died in 1915, the facts that you have on the "Mother Leahy" memorial, is actually Mary Hennessey Leahy (1925-1915), married to Michael J. Leahy (1825-1892). They are both buried in 44-19. You have the correct photo on Michael's memorial, but NOT on Mary's, which you called "Mother Leahy."
Mary and Michael's children were Mary, Nellie, John, Jeremiah, and Maurice.
They did NOT have a Thomas or a Catherine. John and Catherine Leahy, buried in 50-20, DID have a Thomas and a Catherine, and a David, John, Maurice, and Edward.
The photos you have for Mother or Mary Leahy, died 1915, buried in 44-19, should be for the wife of Patrick Leahy (1821-1907), buried in 46-12-01. Her name is unknown and I don't think she has a memorial, from what I can tell. He did have a wife--- she is mentioned, but not named, in his obit.
Could you put the Michael Leahy monument on Mary Leahy's memorial, please?
I appreciate all of your help with this SO much.
If you disagree, please let me know and let's discuss this. Thank you so very much!

|Molly H.||RE: Correction on Leahys|
Thank you so much for all the understanding! I am so sorry I didn't just send all that through edits.
I know you can add things through edits, but maybe I wasn't sure if I could change things through edits.
I also wanted you to know my reasoning, because I know you can refuse an edit if it doesn't seem right.
I agree with you. I am SO grateful for the people who created the cemetery book. We could all be lost without it.
But it does contain a multitude of errors and contradictions. Also, even the tombstones have misspellings and wrong dates, I have found with my own family. It seems like the people who carved the stone did not ask the family's input on the way that they spelled it! So any version of the name could be used. I know that names were not standardized in the beginning, but even after they were fairly standardized, I've noticed in Mt. Olivet that the tombstone is so often different from how the family spells the name.
I think I've got at least my family of Leahys correct now, but I still don't know if I am related to the others. It looks in the cemetery like most of them are related, from the proximity, at least.
Thank you SO VERY much for all of your volunteer work. You have been a tremendous help with all of the photos you have taken and memorials you have created. Thank you so very much and I am so sorry for all the confusion about this!! Feel free to take down my messages from your board!
