Any corrections requested please use the edit tab and provide documentation that proves the changes requested and I will promptly make appropriate corrections. I have been getting numerous requests to link individuals on the edit tab. I verify the relationship before I approve the link. Recently, there have been some requests that I have not approved because they are not connected. I implore of you to verify the relationship before asking to link individuals together. Also, why is it that I am receiving requests to link people when I have already wrote in the bio with HTML linking the family members way before FAG put the capability on their site. Just saying what is the difference? |
I encourage sharing of anything I have, however, I do ask that the proper credit be posted. I have spent many hours and numerous dollars in gas driving to different cemeteries taking pictures and feel that it is only proper to give the proper credit especially when posting to ancestry or any other sites that charge a fee to view others work.
I commend everyone contributing to this site. It is a time consuming endeavor to document this information but it will make researching much easier for future generations.
Please visit my sister Renita Gay Cradic Simpson's memorial

Thanks so much for your help!

That did help, but I've got myself really confused now. Both of the 2 Wininger cemeteries are as you describe between Yuma and Stanley Valley, one off Cowan Gap Tunnel Rd(where I was today) and the other further west. The Cowan Gap one is supposed to have 112 graves. Did you find that many? The other has 6, it says. Thanks.

How long ago were the photos at Wininger taken? I went out today to try to fulfill requests. Once I finally found the site (I think), there was an electrified barbed wire behind the gate and that was the deterrent. Curious to know if I was in the right place. It was on Possum Creek Rd just past the junction with Cowan Gap Tunnel Rd, on the right across from a white farmhouse with a wooden bridge driveway. Right place? do you remember? Thanks.

Thank you, Robert. I have learned it is hard to get the cemeteries correct if you are not a 'local'. Here in North Carolina, the cemeteries change names over time. I do appreciate you correcting that as our goal is for people to find burial sites. Thank you for the great work you are doing on Find A Grave.

Off hand I do not know the location for Alexander and Alice, but I will be going to the library this weekend and will check and see if they are listed in Upon a Lonely Hill. I will get back to you a little later this weekend.

Thank you so much for adding the tombstone picture.
It really helps to get confirming or additional information.
It is because of people like you, who go out of your way to assist us, that we are able to link to our family members.

May I have your permission to copy the headstone of Aaron Sexton (Castlewood Va) to my family tree? Thanks Faye

Thank you for linking David Allen Heck to his father Ralph D Heck.
|Lynn Hawkins||Correction - Lydia G Bradshaw|
I'm helping a cousin by marriage with her side of the family tree and found an error. A picture of the grave marker for Lydia has been posted and although the name is difficult to read (I believe it should be Lydia S not Lydia G but it's hard to tell) the date is quite clear and she died July 28, 1881. Findagrave says July 23, 1861. I show her still with husband George on the 1880 census for district 7, Hawkins, TN where they lived their entire life. So, 23/28 may be debatable but does look like 28 to me, but for sure the year is 1881. Can you please change it for me? THANKS!
