I got hooked on this doing family research. If you have a short bio on someone I've added, just let me know and I'll gladly add it to their page or transfer ownership. I'd be glad to help any way I can.|

|Steve & Sue Bearden||James M. Bearden|
You have James M. Bearden (15938700). This is a duplicate of James M. Bearden (91639229) managed by Deborah Ayers (47305984).

|Onlyarethusa||Dewey J "Dude" Oglesby|
You have a short biography for Dewey. His father was Edward Forrest Oglesby (though you don't have his middle name) and Rhoda Parker. Having looked at your virtual cemetery, you're probably related to the Parker side, not the Oglesbys.
I believe his father was the brother of my great-grandfather, Morgan E Oglesby. Because Oklahoma doesn't allow the "public" viewing of death certificates, I can't verify his relationship to me directly. I was hoping you might have more information about Dewey's parents.

Oh, you can't be Rodney's wife. Her name is Debbie!
That's too funny. I just didn't recognize your photo - your hair's too short. Or too dark. Or something. Actually it's just because you're much prettier in real life...
I'm getting desperate here, can you tell?
Well anyway, I really had no idea you were the DAnn who has all the photos on so many of the family web pages. And I see you have a lot of family pages yourself, besides grandma Green.
While we're at it, by the way, you should link Lillie Belle's page with her mom and dad. Andrew Young's page is 14783235 and Mary Ward's is 14783371.
I'm in the middle of one of my Genealogy binges. I go through a period where I'm catching up on all the stuff I want to get done, then I get burned out and drop it all for a few months. I'm getting ready to add a bunch of material I've been working on for months, mostly on the Ward ancestry, and more on the Young ancestry.
I've been working with a couple of other distant cousins from the Ward line, and we've traced James Ward's line back to Jamestown - through his mother Elizabeth Long. We found the graveyard where he is buried in Kentucky, and I have pictures now - it's on his Find A Grave page. I've already got a rough list of his ancestry on my tree, but it's not complete, and what's there may not be completely accurate - I put it up early in my research, and may have some corrections...
And I've traced Thomas Young's ancestry back at least one more generation, and have more information on his siblings. But I still have to put it all together.
I also have a lot of photos I still need to get up on my tree at Ancestry. I have most of them up on the tree at Tribal Pages, which was where I started, but still have to catch up the tree posted on Ancestry (which I started later).
Which reminds me - I'm still trying to identify a lot of those pictures from grandma's album. I've figured out a couple, but a lot of the photos, especially of the young men, I haven't been able to identify.
Sad to say my Dad's not doing very well now. He's still aware and can carry on a conversation, but as time goes on he's getting weaker and weaker. He still enjoys having visitors though.
So, hope you and Rodney and all are doing well...
I tried sending a regular email, but it didn't go through - it must be an old email address. Send me your current email to firstname.lastname@example.org

|Dorsey Barnes Drane||Jasper's Grave (cont.)|
I misread the inscription. It says he died in 1907, not 1897. I trust the widow's pension application. I don't think this J C is Jasper Columbus.
|Dorsey Barnes Drane||Jasper's Grave|
Notice that the death date is wrong - it doesn't match the inscription in the photo. It also doesn't match the pension application, but at least they have the same year.
BTW: Notice in the pension application it does not say he died in Howard County. Many careless people are concluding that he did. (Just like the way they take the last residence in a Social Security Death Index record as the place of death. Sloppy!)
|Dorsey Barnes Drane||Jasper's Death Date|
Virginia Talbert has his death date taken from the Arkansas, Confederate Pension Records, 1891-1935 database:
Name: Jasper C. Parker
Spouse Name: Sarah P. Parker
Residence Location: Howard, Arkansas
State Served From: Arkansas
Death Date: 29 Mar 1897
Comments: widow applied 1915
(We know the death date of Thomas Barnes from the same database.)
|Dorsey Barnes Drane||Parkers in Alabama|
The wife of the Thomas Barnes (whom you just transferred to me) was Elizabeth Nall. Elizabeth was born in Alabama and the daughter of Tapley White Nall and Margaret Ann ("Peggy") Parker.
Margaret was born in Tennessee, but she married in and first settled in Alabama. Probably she moved to Alabama with her Parker family.
Wouldn't it be a kick if jasper and Margaret were related?
