I'm looking for the location of the Oak Hill Cemetery, Gordonsville, and Orange County, Virginia. I rec'd a request for two photos of grave markers for the following:
Dr Colby Cowherd (Apr. 13, 1828 - Jan. 12, 1897)
Mary Jane Cowherd Cowherd (Mar. 13, 1827 - Apr. 7, 1907)
I have not been able to find the location of Oak Hill Cemetery; any and all help would be appreciated.

My sister and I are Cowherd relatives. We recently went to Virginia and looked for headstones for all Cowherds we could find. There were many in the Maplewood Cemetery and a couple of others. We were unable to find the Oakville Cemetery in Gordonsville. We found an old cemetery with no Cowherds on an old road and a property marked Private further...is that where it is, on someone's private property? I would love to get permission to visit myself. Could you inform all of us where it is?

Leonard, thank you for adding that link for me of Anthony Shomo's dad, Joseph Chaumontet/Shomo 1723 – 1786. It has taken a while, but we finally have his mother's name and burial on Find a grave: Anna Maria Fricker Chaumontet/Shomo 1728 – 1765. The number you will need to link mother and son is: 95296223. My 4th great granddad was Anthony Shomo. He was in the Revolutionary War. You have him as number 42436080. I just added his dad, Joseph Chaumontet Shomo to find a grave. His number is 93898942. Would you mind adding this number to Anthony as his father? I hope to soon add his mom, and I'll let you know that number. I also added a photo to Anthony Shomo's page with some family information.
