I Have been working on my fathers family the Herlan/Herlong Geneology for many many years.Thanks to many others also we have managed to put a lot of peices of the Herlan/Herlong family puzzle together. I am also working on my Mother's side of the family Hamby/Caffery.|
***** A Herlong information Searches Virtual Cemetery that I have created this Information obtained from Ancestry.com and Findagrave.com. Please note a lot of these graves that have been posted by myself and others that have gone to the cemeties and just recorded names with out taking pictures of their tombstones. Thanks to any and all contributors to this wonderful Find A Grave website.. I have noticed that some people have duplicated names that were already placed on Find A Grave. It is very important if you are summiting a name then PLEASE try to take a picture of the tombstone/ marker, this may help in not duplicating, check to see if the name is already listed.
Genealogy is my Pastime. I shall not stray. It maketh me to lie down and examine half-buried Tombstones It leadeth me into still Courthouses. It restoreth my Ancestral Knowledge.... It leaded me into the Paths of Census Records and Ships Passenger Lists for my Surnames' sake. Yea, though I wade through the Shadows of Research Libraries and Microfilm Readers, I shall fear no Discouragement, for a Strong Urge is with me. The curiosity and Motivation, they Comfort me. It demandeth preparation of storage space for the acquisition of countless documents. It annointeth my head with burning Midnight Oil, my family group sheets runneth over. Surely Birth, Marriage and death records dates shall follow me all the days of my Life; and I shall dwell in the House of the Family History Seeker Forever.... ..........Anonymous
Wish Heaven had a phone so I could hear your voice again. I thought of you today, but that is nothing new. I thought about you yesterday, and days before that too. I think of you in silence, I often speak your name. All I have are memories and a picture in a frame. Your memory is a keepsake, from which I'll never part.... God has you in his arms, I have you in my heart
Another Beautiful Poem
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness;
here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you,
when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again;
you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night,
the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth,
and all those loving years
because you are only human,
they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers
unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain,
though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you
and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night...
"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street,
and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go...
from that body to be free,
remember you're not going...
you're coming here to me.

|Cille McHenry Litchfield||John Thomas Herlong|
JT Herlong is my great grandfather. Thomas Eugene Herlong, his son, is my grandfather (buried in Wiggins MS) and my Mom is Mildred Lucille Herlong McHenry (living in Madison as do I).
Mom believes he and his wife Lottie McBrier Herlong are buried in the Herlong Cemetery but their graves are not marked. She remembers visiting the cemetery with her Dad when she was very young. Do you happen to have any info that might support that. I have been to the cemetery and looked but found no markers for them. I also cannot find them on FindAGrave. Mom believes she died before she was born (1931) and knows he had cancer on his face (for sure) and expects he died by 1938. They disappear after the 1930 census.
Any info appreciated.

|Melissa West Reeves||John Thomas Herlong and Rosa Whitehead|
Hello! Do you have any information on Rosa Whitehead Herlong's parents? I just started researching this line. Rosa's mother, Julia Pearce, was also the mother of Celia Saunders who is my husband's great grandmother. I can not find any death information on Julia or Jessie Whiehead. Nor on her third husband Jacob Watson.
Thanks in advance!

Please reference guidelines in requesting transfers. You may want to check out other contributors bios - often request made on member page as you've done are simply ignored, We are usually more lenient but experiencing some illness. I think your SECOND REQUEST follows your original request by four days. Again, you may want to check Find A Grave guidelines which (unless recent change) allows thirty days before submitting a second request.
Another FAQ (Frequently asked questions) you may want to check out is properly requesting a transfer within FOUR GENERATIONS via the EDIT TAB on each memorial.
I am not sure where step sisters fit in the equation.
|Lance Douglas Gutierrez||Liberty Cemetery|
Hello Friend. You have posted a picture of a church on the Liberty Cemetery of Van Zandt County, Texas. I believe you must've done this in error, as there is only an open-air arbor built there. Please remove the church picture when you get a chance. Thanks so much.

Afternoon from DC! Beautiful day with the Cherry Blossoms in full bloom. Would you please add the picture of Bobby MAY's tombstone you have posted to his wife Nellie J. MCKEE MAY's memorial page? She passed away on April 9th.
Many thanks.....Doug McBroom (MAY Family)
The cemetery photograph you took of Hickory Grove Cemetery in Ashley County, Arkansas is just wonderful.
You have a gift of recognizing a good photograph when you find it.
With kind regards--

|Bonnie Sisson Manning||Michael Burton Smith|
Thanks a heap, Sharon
Would love for you to transfer Michael Burton Smith to me. This is part of the Sisson family that I know next to nothing about. I'm hoping I'll learn more.
PS - I think I have all of Bartholomew photographed. Let me know if I can transfer anything of mine to you.
I think I'm still missing a few from the Bonita Cemetery. Hope to be home in June. Would love to meet you.
Thanks a heap!

Could you upload all the gravestone pictures that you have taken in Louisiana to the Louisiana Gravestone Photo Project? Here is the website: http://www.lagenweb.net/gpp/ That way there will always be a backup of your hard work.
