The living come with grassy tread|
To read the gravestones on the hill;
The graveyard draws the living still,
But never anymore the dead.
The verses in it say and say:
"The ones who living come today
To read the stones and go away
Tomorrow dead will come to stay."
So sure of death the marbles rhyme,
Yet can't help marking all the time
How no one dead will seem to come.
What is it men are shrinking from?
It would be easy to be clever
And tell the stones: Men hate to die
And have stopped dying now forever.
I think they would believe the lie.

The information on this find-a-grave documentation states that he married the daughter of his brother and says that this relationship would be first cousin. However the daughter of one's brother would be his niece.
Thank you for all of the hard work you do! May I use your picture of Saint John Episcopal Churchyard on my cousin's Memorial# 158149114 and his wife Memorial# 158149247 memorials? It is a great photo :) If you meed records please let me know. Thank you for your time.
Hello, do you have any information about Polly Monger not sure if this is my 2x Great Grandfather. I have found my Grt Grandmother's marriage cert not sure because the name is spelled Pally Monger on the certificate. I would appreciate any info you might have. Thank you in advance!

I agree posting public is not always best. This is my personal email firstname.lastname@example.org so direct correspondence to this email is best. I am happy to share my interest in this family.

I did know she was from Norfolk, I actually grew up in Norfolk before moving to Virginia Beach in the 60's. Jones is such a common name and with no clues makes parents hard to find. Oh for a marriage certificate or something to trace her. I will hold out hope that maybe Hubert met or knew this Grandmother and Grandfather like maybe even a first name. Thanks for your diligence. Donna

Thank you for your prompt response. I neglected to tell you that Pleasant Grove ONLY has 14 burials listed and they are all Terrys. There is also no specific address given for the Cemetery.
You mentioned Hubert and this brought me to another question since you are a member of the Terry family, do you know who were the parents of Florrie Jones? I have hit a dead end there. Since Hubert is her son does he know if you don't? Your assistance is much appreciated!! Thanks!
|Donna Wilkins||2 NC Cemeteries Questions|
I am so confused! a number of members of the Terry family are recorded being buried in both cemeteries.
Aulander Cemetery, Aulander Bertie County, NC and Pleasant Grove Garden Cemetery, Hertford, NC. The cemeteries are not even in the same county. Can you shed some light on this perplexing Find A Grave information?
In some of the cases the information is identical, in others there is a slight difference in the name for example Find A Grave# 51009154 (Aulander Bertie) William Joshua Terry is the same person as Find A Grave# 65144519 (Pleasant Grove Hertford) William J Terry. When you click on all Terry's buried in Pleasant Grove it show 14 listed and all but 4 are also listed in Aulander Bertie with different Find A Grave #s. These don't appear to be in any way the same cemetery. Please help! Thank you for all that you do to insure that our ancestors records are available for posterity.

I have been researching my Sumners for years and believe that they are so difficult because of Huntington's Disease which persists in descendants to present. Adults died young and orpahns were left and sometime are found living together as the group of young female Sumners in 1850. The new group you have put together in the Bryan(t) andWhite Cemetery group is very interesting - especially your comments. I am very interested in the land divisions you mention. Is this a family of yours? Would you be interested in sharing information? Of particular interest is James Sumner died 1842. I believe he is the father of Willie Jr. who was not the son of Willie Sr. as you probably already know. I hope you will write me back on Find A Grave and the message if forwarded to me would allow us to share email addresses privately.
