I have been doing genealogy for about 15 years. Seven years ago I retired from work as a banker after over 40 years. Then I began doing cemeteries as a new profession. The pay stinks but I do feel I'm contributing and the "thank you" emails keep me going. If you have photos of your relatives, please add them to their grave sites. Any corrections, additions, etc . . .let me know, please.|
PLEASE send corrections/requests by clicking the "EDIT" tab at the top right corner of the memorial page. Then click "suggest a correction or provide additional information". For transfers please state your relationship and include your member number. I sometimes miss messages posted below, so you'll have much better luck emailing me through the "edit" function.

I think this is the parents of Lydia Monks Jackson. Notice Thomas' entry has a daughter Springer linked to him. That Springer is listed as a sister in Lydia's obit that is on her grave. If you concur, make the correction via the edits feature.

Thank you for providing the Arizona Death Certificate.
I added it to his memorial page along with other information.
|Linda ||Charles Mitchell|
Thanks for providing the AZ death certificate link. I have added it to Mr. Mitchell's memorial page.
You have explained to me that you are researching veterans, so when I see an edit from you, I automatically process it as I know you have done the leg work!
Keep up the good work.

I agree, always confusing unless you look at the evolution of the territories.
In 1850, the boundaries of the New Mexico territory contained most of present-day New Mexico and more than half of the present-day Arizona. In 1853 the Gadsden Purchase acquired additional land from Mexico which included present-day Tucson. (Presidio San Agustin del Tucson established by Spain on August 20, 1775)
Feb 1855, Dona Ana County in New Mexico gained all of the Gadsden Purchase land from Mexico. This included land south of the Gila River which extended Dona Ana County west to the Baja California border.
In Feb 1863, Arizona Territory was created which removed all land west of the 109th meridian from the New Mexico territory. This reduced Dona Ana County to the portion that was still in New Mexico Territory. The 1863 territory included present-day Arizona and land that would become the southern part of Nevada. Tucson was now in Arizona Territory.
So if Bernarda was born in 1857, it would be possible for records to exist in Dona Ana County, New Mexico. Her siblings born after 1863 would then be born in Arizona. Hope it makes sense.
