Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been doing genealogy for nearly twenty years and have a wealth of cemetery photos. I have loved walking through cemeteries and reading the tombstones, especially the very old ones. I thought it was time I shared my photos with others, and I hope that it helps someone find their ancestor! By adding tombstone photos and bios on Findagrave, I have found a great way to share twenty years of research on my Maryland Simpson family.

More recently, I have been challenged to get the very oldest tombstones in a cemetery photographed, while they are still readable, and add them to FAG. Two of my endeavors have included Greenmount Cemetery and Baltimore Cemetery, both in Baltimore City. It has been very rewarding to find those born in the 1700's, who helped shape the City of Baltimore, place them on FAG, and then to hear from one of their descendants who had been looking for them for years!

I am glad to make any corrections and/or additions, and also will transfer memorials of those that are no relation to me. If I have added any memorials of your family member and you do not wish it to be posted on this site, I will be glad to take it down. Also, please ask permission to use any family or tombstone photos, and after getting the permission, please give me credit for the photo. Thank you.

If you add any photos of any kind to memorials that I have created, I would like to know. I do not want memorials which I have created to have 4-5 tombstone photos. If your photo is better, I'll take mine down; but, my heart is to create memorials that share photos of the person or their family, in addition to one (at the most two) tombstone photos. I prefer to add obituary information in the bio section, if you know the name of the newspaper and the date.

RE: Mary Gupton
Thanks, Linda. No need to transfer. The connection is quite distant, and I have nothing further to add. I'm so glad you were able to identify and photograph her grave, and thanks for adding the information. :)

Hiltz memorials
Thank you so much for finding the graves of Margaret and Wigart Hiltz (Memorial# 131304313
and Memorial# 131304263). They are my great-great-great-great-grandparents, and a personal favorite of mine in my genealogical research since they were the first in my German family to arrive in Baltimore.
I just want to thank you because I had no idea where they were buried (not detailed in obit), and I would absolutely love it if you would link their memorials to their son, Philip Hiltz Memorial# 104050519

Alricks
I am researching my son-in-laws family. What I have found is Harmanus Alricks, Sr. died at Carlisle, Cumberland Co., Penn. His widow, Ann West Alricks, marr. (2) Alexander Lowrey of Lancaster Co. Penn. about 1772. Alexander & Ann had one child, Frances Lowrey who married Samuel Evans. My son-in-law is descended from Alexander Lowrey and Ann West. He is not descended from Harmanus Alricks, Sr. Hope this helps. Janine Eller Porter

RE: John L. Gouley and sister Mary Ann Gouley
Linda -

I do not know where Mary Ann (Washington) Gouley and John H. Washington's PARENTS are buried. Searched; No luck. Graves somewhere.

Their parents are:
John Washington, born Stafford County, Va, 5/25/1756; and Mary Elizabeth Kappel (Karpel, born 22 Dec 1764, Philadelphia.

John Washington died Oct. 1833, Christiana Del.; Elizabeth (Kappel)(Karpel) Washington died 11 Nov 1845, Christiana, Del.

John Washington & Mary Elizabeth Kappel were married 19 March 1759, Philadelphia.

Thank you so much for helping me with my genealogy.

RE: John L. Gouley and sister Mary Ann Gouley
Linda -

John L. Gouley (1827-1891), is buried at the Wilmington and Brandywine Cemetery, Wilmington, Del. This is according to a letter from the cemetery dated July 28, 1964, to my brother, Dr. Witt, who was working on the "Washington" geneology at that time.

John L. Gouley, is buried at the same cemetery as George Frank Gouley, and John H. Washington.

All are interred in Lot 31, Section 34.

John H. Washington was a brother of my gr-gr-grandmother, Mary Ann (Washington) Gouley. John H. died Nov. 19, 1880, at 86 years. Never married.

My gr-gr-grandmother, Mary Ann (Washington) Gouley (1806-1878) buried All Saints Graveyard, Wilm. Del. She is listed under name of "Guolo." Whoever gave "Guolo" was incorrect. Louis H. Gouley and Mary Ann Gouley divorced 1840; maybe this is the reason buried All Saints Graveyard, for she wanted to be buried next to her daughter, who died in 1825. Understand an older man read records and spelled name "Guolo," Would like to get records that All Saints Graveyard has re Guolo (Gouley).

Thank you, Linda, for your help.

My Great Grandfather was James Dorsey Simpson. He lived and died in Richmond VA. I found this website while searching for my ancestry. Am I on the correct path?
