Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am very interested in local history and this interest has led me to some places that are "off the beaten path." When I see small cemeteries/graveyards, I have often wondered how families would be able to locate these especially if they aren't named cemeteries. Nonetheless, I am especially interested in the photo requests of these smaller areas that some may not be interested in traveling to. Unfortunately, some are in such a state of disrepair, it is very hard to locate stones.
I hope to be of help to those seeking their ancestors and feel free to request a transfer of your family members if I am showing as managing it. Just because I "found" and photographed their stone, certainly doesn't mean I "own" it. I have a hard time understanding why people on here are so possessive about a memorial they added and its not even their family. So much drama on a website intended to be helpful.
Feel free to contact me if I can help you with locating a cemetery or help with piecing together any information you have trouble finding, in any of the counties in SW Virginia. I would much rather do the photos, finding, etc than enter memorials from a list (but, I am grateful for those that will enter them) AND please feel free to use any photos for your ancestry. You can credit me with the photo, or not. I put them here for the family's to be able to see the resting place of their loved ones, not to fulfill a number or get some kind of credit.
Please don't send photo volunteers on a wild goose chase unless you tell them that in advance. As someone who really enjoys fulfilling those requests, there is nothing more frustrating than someone adding memorials to a cemetery when they have no proof they are buried there, then requests photos. I don't think memorials should be added to a cemetery because you think they should be there. Also, if there is a photo of their stone, and its a good photo, please don't request another one.
If I have added a memorial or photo of your loved one, please know I do it only to create a lasting memory of that person that present and future generations can visit to find their ancestors and pay their respects, as they may not be able to do so in person.

Have been looking but so far only found similar named cemeteries in other states. I'll keep trying, thank you.

William & Mary Holland

I sent a request to transfer my great grandparents memorials. Would love to know where the Gray cemetery is in Floyd and if you know any history as to why they were buried in the Gray Cemetery...

Also would like to thank you for taking the photos of this graveyard...

Thank you so very, very much for finding my posting error on the death date for Melissa Burk #38425971

I had the date correct in the family history but inadvertently used her husband's death date for both of them.

RE: John Bell
Yes, I too thought it odd (and a bit inconsiderate honestly) they didn't relocate before building. Oh well, Thanks again!

Yikes! I didn't realize the Bell Family Dunkards Bottom Cemetery was buried under Claytor Lake. Thanks so much for the update! I have removed my request.
