Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a former Marine and a Vietnam Veteran. I spent approximately 18 months in Nam.
I can only speak for myself and the photos that I have taken. I am giving my express permission for you to use my photos in any way you see fit in your family research.

❤I will try to never forget that am a volunteer out here, doing work for you, the absent family member.❤
I do not selfishly hoard my pictures under the pretense of a 'copyright'. WHO in their right mind selfishly refuses to share OPENLY the photo of another family's grave stone?

Transfers:
I DO NOT PLAY F.A.G.'s numbers game that so many of us despise! I do NOT hoard memorials. I openly welcome and gladly transfer MY memorials upon request.
VERY VERY FEW
of these memorials are my family. SO if they are in yours do not be afraid to ask for a transfer.
I do not hold tightly to strict family guidelines. I prefer that you are family of some sort BECAUSE ♥I believe no one takes better care of family then family.♥
Be Honest. I also believe there may be other valid reasons for wanting a transfer. If it was a close family friend, or someone that played an important part in your life that you wish to pay respect to and manage the memorial instead of me, a total stranger, please explain that to me and I will more then likely transfer to you.
********************
The four generation rule....MY THOUGHTS ONLY.....Since when does a family tree or your ancestors start or stop at four generations??? If you are doing your family tree it is impossible to to continue on or finish if you stop at 4 generations only! How incomplete would that be!?

*********************
If you are a volunteer on the Findagrave website and decide for any reason that you no longer can or wish to maintain your memorials, please transfer your memorials to someone who has an active account and is willing to also manage yours.
SO... Right now, while you are still active/alive, you can email info@findagrave.com if you have someone (usually a family member) who has accepted to take over stewardship of your memorials. Please send FaG their name and member number. FaG will add a note to your member page stating the identity of who you are making your steward. You can have your elected steward email FaG after your 'passing' or you going 'inactive' and they will make sure that your person can manage, edit and update all of your memorials when necessary.

Thank-you for your military services!
BTW, Jim and I have 80 years of combined military services with the US Army, we are both retired, now. I met Jim on my first PDS day and we married that same year. Jim had two tours in Vietnam before we met and I was a WAC during the Vietnam Era. (Support, not combat). After our enlistments, we continued as GS civilians with the US Army. "Same work, different uniforms, still serving". Jim still has his "NCO military mind", though me and our cats tend to ignore that, when we can. You know what they say about soldiers? Hoo-yah! lol! :)

RE: Re: John Gucker
Thanks for your prompt and quite informative response! You are SO right about the importance of verification. Funny story, I was researching the 1940 census and found two hits for my father's name, so I checked both and BOTH were good! Seems, that my adult father left his home early that Spring to go West with some friends. So, during the 1940 census, his family reported him in Missouri, but my father reported himself in California! Both correct! This would have NEVER been discovered with their "hard copy paperwork" system, but it did with this "new fangled automated" one, that we have now! Isn't this a 'hoot'? What a discovery! Personal, too! LOL! Thanks and warmest regards, Mari

RE: Re: John Gucker
Thanks, Larry. Seems that there are two sites for John Gucker, each in a different state, and the DOB and DOD are both the same? Confusing ... yes? A mystery. Do you see this happen often?

John Howard Ellis
Hi Larry,

Your bio is the nicest I have read on Find A Grave. You sound like such a nice person. John Howard Ellis was my great uncle. I would like you to transfer him to me so I can do a nice write up and connect him to his parents. If you want to keep him that is ok too, but would you please connect him to his parents.
Father is memorial # 13517086 Washington Lafayette Ellis
Mother is memorial # 13517088 Pallie Elizabeth Oden Ellis - my great great grandparents.

If you decide to keep John Howard Ellis (memorial # 13517090), I will send you a write up to put on his memorial, if you don't mind.

BTW - I was one of the stewardesses flying you guys in and out of Viet Nam.
Thanks,
Diane Chenault-Parke
