RE: Sargeant Family in Vineland
I've reread some of my correction requests on this family and see that I could potentially transfer to you. Please submit a Transfer Request through the "Edit" tab on each memorial that I can transfer to you. Also, please contact me offline of Find A Grave at bcrossler@gmail.com. I have other info on Sargeants that I'm unsure of.

Asotin County Cemeteries
You posted a question to the Vineland page about why they don't take care of the cemeteries:

Here was your question you posted, and the reply from Vineland..

Historic Preservation
Why, is the cemetery district not caring for these cemeteries, otherwise not mentioned?

http://ballotpedia.org/wiki/index.php/Cemetery_District_Creation_%28November_2009%29

CEMETERY DISTRICT CREATION ((November 2009)(Resolution 09-21))

A proposition for a Cemetery District Creation was on the November 3, 2009 ballot in Asotin County.

The measure was approved.

YES 4,756 (72%)
NO 1,850 (28%)

The Board of Commissioners for Asotin County sought to form a cemetery district within the county,
following previously set rules on maintaining and operating a cemetery in the district. This will also enable the district to levy a property tax not to exceed 11.25 cents.

Ballot summary

The ballot read:

"The Board of Commissioners of Asotin County has passed a resolution regarding formation of a Cemetery District for all of Asotin County. This measure would create a cemetery district in Asotin County pursuant to RCW 68.25.185 for maintenance and operations of cemeteries approved to be in the district. The district would be authorized to levy a property tax not to exceed 11.25 cents per thousand dollars of assessed value beginning in 2010. Shall a cemetery district, to be know as Asotin County Cemetery District Number One. With the power to levy property tax, be created in Asotin County?

RE: cemetery district not caring for these cemeteries

There are many cemeteries in Asotin County. At present, the only Cemetery deeded to the Cemetery District is Vineland.

Many of the small cemeteries throughout the county are on private land so the District cannot do anything with them.

Asotin Cemetery is owned by the City of Asotin, again not in the District.

Anatone is also on their own as is Cloverland and Lake cemeteries.

Hope this answers your inquiry.

Thanks.
KAthy
