Hi from New Zealand. There are a few cemeteries in my local area in South Auckland/Franklin area. 30 I've been reliably informed. |
For a personal project, I'm photographing and putting online the headstones that are in our local cemeteries. Just starting on this project in 2011. I have a feeling this is going to take a long time, just doing a few at a time.
My daughter has joined forces and is photographing graves in the Auckland area. (I type, she posts the pictures :) )
If I get something wrong, or you want to make some changes to a memorial, then please leave me a message.
I understand I can also transfer the ownership of the memorial to a relative.
I am willing to take photos in the Franklin district, South of Auckland City in New Zealand. Again, please leave a message.

|T Nisbet||Tuakau Cemetery|
Thank you for doing a fantastic job. Being from South Auckland and living overseas it is a huge help when I can find an ancestor on find a grave. Can I suggest a slight change? Tuakau Cemetery comes up with an address/location of Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand, could we get an actual address? And when I have merged graves with ancestry it says that the burial is in Tuakau, Frankton, New Zealand. I believe Frankton (a town near Hamilton, N.Z.) should be changed to Franklin (the county where Tuakau resides).
Many thanks again. Appreciate all your efforts on this huge project.

Hi Bea, What a great job you are doing taking photos and putting them on this website for us fellow genealogist that are unable to travel distances to do so.
My husband is a distant relative of the McGill family.... I have just found this out today.
He descends from Mary Sutherland's sister Margaret is our connection.
Are you willing to take photos at Huntly cemetery - there are quite a few Sutherland's buried there?
It would be great corresponding with you as fellow genealogy addicts. Thanks Michelle

I just wanted to let you know that I went and found John's grave - it was so moving, he was a four year old boy and each side of him was an aunt - Maud McDiarmid and Evangeline Sutherland - I had no ideas that the aunts were there with him!!! It was very beautiful and all thanks to you Bea, many many many thanks

Hi there, I really appreciate the photo you took of the headstone for my great grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Clark in Waikaraka Cemetery. I have asked for another picture so that I can zoom in on the wording of the headstone and I am also requesting others of the Clark family. thank you for taking this photo as part of your project and I would be very pleased if you would be able to transfer this memorial to me. thanks and kind regards, Sharon Johnson
Hi there bea!
I see you have some gough's in your listings, wondering if they are related to you? If so would love to know more, I am a gough by birth but don't think related to those in your memorials that I know of :)

There is some awesome info on here!! I found a headstone/memorial for my Great-Great-Great Grandfather Frederick Hunt & his wife Mary on Pitt Island. Have you done the Hunua Cemetary yet? If not I can do it, as half my family is in there.
Can you do final resting place for Ashes Scattering, without a headstone or memorial stone/plaque?
Maybe we can catch up in the school holidays and compare notes?

|T Nisbet||Thank You|
Thank You from Melbourne, Australia. I was born in Waiuku and have many rellies buried in the South Auckland, Cemeteries (Waiuku, Waipipi, Mauku, Papakura...) It is great to see headstones on here and not have to take a trip to NZ to find/photograph them. You're doing a wonderful thing. Thank you both. Keep up the great work.
