John Kincaid Sr.
On your "find a grave" site, you state that John moved from Pa to Prince Edward County, Va. I have documents showing that he moved to Lunenburg County, Va and the property, at that time, was only a very, very short distance from the Prince Edward county line. Perhaps that is why you or someone thought that PE was the county he bought and lived in.

RE: McCall Family graveyard
Thanks so much, Greg -- I've had a couple of those experiences of looking and looking and finally finding a "lost" cemetery in the woods.

Any chance you have GPS coordinates or other landmarks for the McCall graveyard in Caldwell County? Thanks so much.

too many Wilsons !!
Dang, you must be right, and I thought I had it all fitting together! The land record will seal it. With Sarah Wilson living with them, Hester Runion as a Wilson, I was still wrong. When Sarah Elizabeth married Huskey as Sallie White, I decided the 1850 census must be wrong. It was the main reason I kept questioning my reasoning.

My line is Samuel P. Wilson, b. 1793, d. 1871, buried at Brittain Cem, McDowell Co. He is said to have married Sarah Watson, b. ca 1793-95 in NC. He lived in Rutherford Co. My ancestor, Elizabeth Adeline Wilson, b. 1817, married Andrew Morrison in 1835 in Rutherford, and then moved to Georgia by 1838.

Andrew Morrison was the son of John Morrison who was the son of Sheriff William Morrison of Burke Co, and we can't prove it!! Samuel P. Wilson is probably Samuel Poston Wilson based on descendant's names, but he did not own land nor personal property that we can find in Rutherford records.

I will e-mail you with a couple of attachments.

Sarah E. Huskey - Wilson Family Cem
Hi Greg, thanks for the invaluable service in publishing this cemetery. I am researching William P. White who married 1/ Margaret Wilson. I think their daughter was Sarah Elizabeth White, called Betsey in 1850 & 1860 census and married as Sallie White age 30 to A. J. Huskey age 27 on 24 Jan 1878 in Cleveland Co. This does not prove Sallie was the daughter of William & Margaret, but fits.
You show Sarah E. Huskey as the daughter of William P. White and Margaret N. Allen, and that destroys my whole supposition on this family!!
The reason I felt confident was that in 1870, Sarah Wilson, age 75, NC was in William's household - he was currently married to Elizabeth Fortenberry, but Sarah is the right age and name to be the mother of Margaret Wilson White, deceased. Hester Louise White Runion died in Cherokee Co, SC, and her father was William White and mother [blank] Wilson. Hester was the youngest child born 1857, before the marriage of William P. White to Elizabeth Fortenberry.
Margaret Wilson is my 4th great aunt, so you can see I'm doing this research by the seat of my (rather wide) pants, but without family records. I will appreciate your input on the Allen-Wilson problem. Dot Barnum

Kincaid cemetery
Greg,
Can you tell me where this cemetery is located? I hunted one down in 2003 where I thought the Kincaids were that was out in the country in a cow pasture with fencing around it and very overgrown. There was a large tree. Is this the same cemetery?
Thanks!

RE: Amy Bunce tombstone
You are so welcome, Greg. Sometimes discovering there is no grave stone is important, too. It's interesting to me that the town I grew up in, Manchester, had a Bunce Center funded by that family. At the time of Amy's death, though, Manchester was still a wilderness.

All the best,
Noreen

Relative?
I think we may be distant relatives. My grandfather was Thomas Roberds Allen, Jr. He and his wife Eunice lived in St. Mathews County outside of Louisville. I remeber growing up hearing my mother talk about Uncle Lamar. If memory services me right my granfather had 5 or 6 brothers. Am I close?

Kincaid Family Cemetary Location
I am the grandson of Caleb Bascom Kincaid. My father was his son Den Allen Kincaid and his grave is in the Morganton, NC cemitary a short distance from his father Caleb's grave site. My father told me about his early boyhood home sit which was located near Paddys Creek which is now under the waters of Lake James near the spillway dam. In the 1950's when the Lake James Lake water level was lowered for maintenance of the hydro turbine inlet, my father showed me the imprent of his childhood home and out-buildings foundations left on the lake bottom. He also told me that the family cemetary (graveyard) was moved from that site to a much higher nearby location before the lake water was was allowed cover it. I visited the new site of the cemetary several times during the 1950's to help fellow family members clean the cemetary site, but I have not visited the site in forty-plus years, but looking at satellite maps, I believe it is located on the North side of what is now Rays Dairy Ave. which is a spur off Corpening Chapel Rd. which turns east off North Powerhouse Rd. I believe one of our extended family members actually drew a mape of the cemetary including all the readable inscritions. I would like to have a copy of that map with inscriptions if anyone in the area knows where I might obtain it. Thanks in advance for any assistance you my be willing to provide.
