I have been working on my family tree for over 30 years and it is still a work in progress. I am easily excited when I can break through a stone wall of information. The information is out there now, obtainable through the internet, which when used as a tool, is a good thing.

I was born a Tate and I married a Barker. My Tate hertitage comes from Virginia through North Carolina to Elbert County, Georgia, to settle in Tallapoosa/Coosa County, Alabama. My mother was a McNeely from Atlanta. I am also part of the Futch (Brunswick, GA) and Yarbray/Treadwell (Whitfield/Murray Counties, GA) famiy. It seems I learn something new every day.

My husband is a Barker from the Sequatchie Valley, Tennessee, mostly in Sequatchie County and there are a lot of branches to the Barker Family Tree. He has always lived in Sequatchie County, and before moving here I lived in FL, AL, and CA. I have lived in Dunlap, Tennessee, since 1974.

I have always been facinated with cemeteries and the craftsmanship of the old tombstones. So this is right up my alley.
