Bio and Links
Bio Photo Hi Y'all. I'm a Central Pennsylvania native living in Eastern Georgia. I'm tracking down and documenting family names including Daugherty, Sprunger, Amstutz, Updegraff (and its variations Updegrave, Uptagrafft, Updegrove, etc.). I'm also interested in family names Antes, Bixler, Bressler, Coffee, Ferree, Gillinger, Habegger, Herr, Kendig, Logan, Pennington, Rothlischberger, Williams.

I'm part of the great Pennsylvania melting pot, a descendant of Scotch-Irish, Swiss Mennonite, French Huguenots, Moravians, English, German, and Welsh ancestors. The "huddled masses yearning to breathe free."

I'm also looking for my wife's family including Devaney, Hayman, Holley, Leffler, Ricketson, Robertson, Seiter, Street, Tuemler, Williams.

I'm trying to photograph as much as possible, and create an accurate, historical record. I'll be glad to transfer non-family members. I've enjoyed getting to know my extended family members through Findagrave.

Please visit my famous relatives:

Rev Hans Herr, Jr, Swiss Mennonite Bishop, 8th Great-Grandfather. (Herr)

RE: Margaret Curtis Photo
You are most welcome, Bill.

There was an identical-design nearby marker for a Lee Curtis, 1906-1983, marked Husband & Dad. I snapped that one, too, just in case it's someone you need.

Donita Hess
Robert Roland Evans
My name is Donita Hess and my grandfather was Charles Franklin Antes, Jr. My family does not know who my grandmother's grandfather was (not even my grandmother). Everyone is from the Tower City, PA, area. I looked on and found some info, but I was wondering if you might have some insight. My grandmother is Ruth Helena Evans Antes; her father is John Newton Abraham Evans, his mother was Hettie Vienna Lucas Strohecker. She gave birth to her son John in 1886; no father was identified but John was given his father's last name. While doing my search, I came across John's WWI draft registration card. For the person to contact in case of emergency, he wrote "Maggie Irene Evans" which might (I think) be his half-sister. Robert Roland Evans might be the missing link in our family. Many members of this family area buried in Muir, and my mother returned to live in Muir a few years ago. She said that there are many Evans' in the area, and she would like to know if any are family. She is in her 80s, and I would like to help her figure this out. If you have any info, I would appreciate any input that you could give us. Thanks. Donita Hess

Alfred Hite
I did have the photo of Alfred Hite's stone after all, so your last photo request for this cemetery has been fulfilled! Check out Hite Burial Ground's page, because there are several new ones listed there.

RE: Rev Doherty Photo
You are very welcome. From looking at your ancestors, It appears some are connected with the naming of the town of Latrobe, PA. I am sure you are aware but I was fascinated to see the connection.

Alfred Hite
I did not see Alfred Hite at the Hite Burial Ground, however, there are two stones that I found which were unreadable. I supposed he could be one of those. If you want to email me at with your email address, I can send you those photos, plus I have some house photos you may like.

RE: Hite Photos
Yes, I will do so. I also think that there are additional burials than those listed on Find A Grave, so I will add those to the cemetery. BTW, you are free to use any of my photos.

RE: Logan Photos and Updates
You're very welcome, as always. I wasn't sure how far you were branching out on the Logan's, or if they were even related to Samuel A. Logan, but since I saw this clan, I added photos and made updates to this family as well (family of Frank Parke Logan #105195541).

You are welcome and thank you for acknowledging the photos. I uploaded photos of all Snyders in the plot and created a memorial for George Leonard Jr. Can you contribute to his memorial?--Storres

Hi Bill,

My name is Ken Smith living in Kentucky. I've been researching my wife's family and came across a lot of your research into the Daugherty side of the family.

My wife's mother is Kathryn Antionette Daugherty, daughter of LeRoy Daugherty, son of Lee Roy Daugherty, son of George Edmund Daugherty, son of Robert Daugherty, son of Abel Daugherty, son of William Daugherty.

I assume you are directly related to George or Robert.

Just wondering as in a week or two my wife and I are taking a trip with her parents to Clearfield, PA to visit some family graves in the area.

Thanks for all the work you did in researching your family. It's really helped me out in my own research.

I look forward to hearing from you.
