Bio and Links
Bio Photo I believe that it is important we remember and honor the past. By tending to my family's roots through remembering the people who have gone before, I can help keep their memories and the memory of them alive.

I am especially interested in transcribing and providing photographs for the Towns/North Amber Cemetery and Rikey Cemetery in Amber Township, Mason County, Michigan and the Potter's Field of Lakeview Cemetery, Mason County, Ludington, Michigan.

If you are related to any of the individuals that I've submitted information about, and I am not a direct descendant, I would be happy to let you take over management of their memorials. Let me know if I've made an error, as I'll gladly fix it. However, my life is very full (as I'm sure yours is), and it takes me time to get to everything.

Larger, non-compressed versions of some of the photographs that I have contributed can be found at: http://flickr.com/photos/simply_diann/sets/72157601911017987/

There is more than one way of getting close to your ancestors.

Follow the Old Road and as you do, think of them; they climbed Chillingbourne Hill just as you did. They sweated and paused for breath just as you did today. And when you see the bluebells in the spring and the wild thyme, and the broom and the heather, you're seeing what their eyes saw. You ford the same rivers, the same birds singing. And when you lie flat on your back and rest, and watch the clouds sailing as I often do, you're so close to those other people, that you can hear the thrumming of the hoofs of their horses, and the sound of the wheels on the road, and their laughter, and talk, and the music of the instruments they carried. And they turned the bend in the road, where they too saw the towers of Canterbury. I feel I have only to turn my head, to see them on the road behind me.

RE: Potter's field
I just looked up the Kucaj memorials and you know what is interesting? Geriann is the sister of the woman complaining. Simple mistake really as she must not have really understood how to use Find A Grave. It was her only two Memorials. Personally I think you should just leave the Potters field part and let people get cranky! LOL! It is afterall its own cemetery. But I totally support ya either way.

I found the thread on Vanished. i understand more now :) By the way, If you ever learn of a gathering together of some sort to work to clean out Potters Field that will accept volunteers please let me know. It would be an honor to me to help with it since I believe those people deserve better than being forgotten!

RE: Potter's Field
It doesnt take much to upset people. I know I have had a slightly difficult time with the Potters field specially with unmarked family members graves. Some family says they are in Potters Field, others say Lakeview. Records arent clear. If I put them in POtters Field some family gets upset. If I put them in Lakeview some get upset! LOL! I guess some thing to be buried in Potter Field is a bit demeaning maybe? Meanwhile I just wish there was a way to know who is buried where so I could at least put a flower on their gravesite and give them a visit. Its the least I can do when they gave me life in an indirect way :)

Potters Field
Now I see what you said about Folkman. I swore you said it was clearly in Lakeview.. LOL. Man its Monday morning and I havent had coffee. So you are deleting the Potters Field?? Yes I can go transfer and then make the notation that says they are in Potters Field.

Philip Bowman
Philip Bowman is my ancestor. I am 100% certain he is buried within Potters Field. Though I am reading your other email on Folkman. If you are deleting the Potters Field then yes I can move him to Lakeview. I just want to clarify before moving him though because I do know he is in Potters Field just unmarked

John Folkman
His memorial stone was in the woods. Is that not potters field as well? Or is Potters Field only strictly the open ground to the west?

RE: Martha Andrews
Hi,

Letting you know that I am not a relative of hers, so no need to transfer her memorial over to me. Thank you. Terry

Frank Barnes Townes cem.
Hi, when looking for the mother of another Frank Barnes, I found a note for you saying that this person is buried in another cem. I don't know it her is or not, but hoped you would appreciate the help. It is hard to keep up with all of these, we all need the help.
