RE: Goetting
You're welcome. I've claimed the wife and will get her next time I am there. I wish I had taken her this morning, but I just didn't believe I had stumbled across a requested memorial. That will teach me in the future, take the photo! This cemetery isn't friendly to volunteers as you can tell from the 60 requests not fulfilled. I only do those that I have maps from a few years ago on or those I have entered memorials for (some 8,000) and I recorded where they are. That is why I was in that section today, I had entered memorials in that section. It will take a week or so for me to get back over there, but I will get the photo for you. Chris

Goetting in Fairhaven
Hi Lindan

I was walking through an area in Fairhaven Cem today to do a photo another request and notice the Goetting name. However, I only took Charles' photo not remembering if this was a photo request or not. I'll try and remember where I saw he and his wife for my next trip out there. I can tell you they are buried in Lawn P, you might want to add that to your memorials for them. Chris

Misuse of photo area # 21629809

Find a Grave, first and foremost a grave indexing database, reserves the photo section for images of the person's grave and a portrait of that person if available. That is the ideal usage of the photo section. Newspaper style article/obituary scans should not be posted, as indicated in the FAQs (although many people feel compelled to do so). Always use the bio area to transcribe any news article or obit item. They are far more suitable for listings. A great deal of our "complaint" email has to do with members upset that another member has added a scanned obit (or even death certificate) to memorials that they maintain. Others complain that the scanned images take photo slots away that could be used for grave and portrait photos. The Administration team is instructed to remove these items when notified and also when they run across them.

Thomas Benton Caldwell
Hi Lindan. My grandmother is Flora Draves who is buried in Thayer, Missouri. I was wondering if you could tell me what her relation is to Thomas Benton Caldwell. I got my name from Jason Caldwell. Thank you for your time.

I haven't done a reprint of my book as of yet. My husband was ill for about 2 1/2 years so I am just now beginning to get back into my research etc. I am working on a second book of Company B. I don't have books left from the first printing. But please check with me again. I make get back to Company C again. Cheri

RE: Pvt. Thomas Benton Caldwell
Thanks for the message pertaining to the Caldwell article, interesting material. On another note, do you know anything at all about the burial whereabouts of the two Federal soldiers that were killed by Bushwhacker Jim Jamison that's related in the Monks book by Lou Wehmer and John Bradbury? The book states "about one mile west of Thomasville." My research partner Michael D. Harris and I have done a lot of research on Jamison, Bill Wilson, Anthony Wright, Dick Kitchen, One-Arm Brown, Duke Sumner, and many others, they all hailed from our neck of the woods in southern Phelps co. We plan to publish a book about these men as well as many others in the near future. Michael has a lot of info. on the "Texas and Mo. in the Civil War" message boards online. We went to Texas about a month ago following the footsteps of Jamison and Wilson in their post-war years, Wilson of course was murdered in Grayson Co. in 1869 and Jamison became a marshal in many Texas towns as well as a Texas Ranger before dying in 1906. Regards, Garrett

Pvt. Thomas Benton Caldwell
Hello, Just curious as to the photo of Pvt. Caldwell of Salem cemetery of Arkansas on Findagrave that you submitted. Do you have a larger or better copy? If so, would it be possible to use it for a future publication of a local history book that I plan for early next year? I would give you credit of course. The photo is an extremely rare example of what a Coleman "guerrilla" appeared as. I research heavily on the Civil War in Mo. from the Rolla,Mo area to Newport, Arkansas as it was a literal corridor of activity especially with bushwhackers and Coleman's command as you know of course. Regards, Garrett Gabel

RE: Hero John S Johnson
Glad to do it. My father was a WW2 vet as well, a rapidly declining 'club'. I think anything the local VFW can do would be appropriate to honor him. Again, thank I appreciate you taking the time to take the photo. I know the cemetery is out in the country.
