Words from Helen Keller "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.
THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where other cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.
The Final Gift
Scatter me not to restless winds
Nor scatter my ashes to the sea
Remember now those years gone by
When loving gifts I gave to thee
Remember now the happy times
The family ties we shared
Don't leave my resting place unmarked
As though you never cared
Deny me not one final gift
For all who come to see
A single lasting proof that says
I loved....and you loved me
"Those who spend their time looking for the faults in others,
Usually make no time to correct their own."

Can you give me any details about this person. Parents??
Hi, Mark's Mom:
We talked previously about Horace Villemur.
In regard to Gladys, I have the death certificate and info. from previous family contact. Name on the certificate is Viola Gould but always spoken of as Gladys by family, so conclusion is her name was actually Viola Gladys Gould. Also, statement on the certificate as to place of burial is "Beckwith West Side" which I understand is the same as Sharkey (Plumas County WebGen) which I'm sure you know. Burial date is Feb. 13, 1925. DOB: 10 FEB 1922 born in Beckwith; DOD 11 FEB 1925 died in Beckwith. Do you need to see the certificate to confirm. Will be happy to forward. |David M. Habben||Hillside Cemetery|
I'm in Reno for a few days for work and I went to the area where Hillside, GAR, and the Hebrew cemeteries are. I was disappointed that all the gates were chained and locked except for Sect. 33 of Hillside, so was limited in the photos I took. Looking up Hillside in F.A.G. I found all the great information you entered for all those interred there. Bless you for doing all that wonderful work. I was fascinated reading all the biographies you entered. I was drawn to the Calligan family. Someone has kept the area very nice with flowers and cleaning the area, and even remounding the graves. It's such a shame that the cemetery has so many missing and broken markers. Thank you, again, for your time and efforts.
Thank you so much for adding the information I sent.

I did find out from a family member that they are buried in the other cemetery. I'm trying to get my sister to change the info as I turned it over to her. Hopefully we can get the duplicates deleted. Thank you very much.
