Bio Photo If you're contacting me regarding memorials I've added for Noble County, OH, please note that I have no personal ties to this area. I have photographed stones locally as a courtesy to help you find/locate your ancestors and family and represent the individuals in interim. If you are a relative of memorials I've added in Noble Co. and would like to take over maintenance, feel free to contact me and I'll gladly transfer memorial ownership to you. Please remember to include your member ID in the request. :)

I will not transfer memorials of our direct ancestors.

Happy hunting!

Courtesy in Genealogy: It takes a great deal of legwork, and often financial investments, to do thorough research. If you've found information others have provided helpful, please take a moment to credit them your sources. :-)

UPDATE 8/2014: It's been a good run but I will not be adding more memorials. It's become too time consuming considering the photographing and editing, researching to verify, locate obits, etc., to have other scant memorials added in the wrong locations, incorrectly listed, or as "unknown burials" and edited/relocated later only to receive annoyed emails that I've duplicated a pre-existing memorial and asked to remove mine. I assure you that I check and double check to see if they're listed before I add them, and while I don't mind editing/amending them, it's a waste of my efforts to add memorials only to delete them and re-link entire families because someone else changed theirs.

Any from Noble you'd like transferred will be done whether within the official guidelines or not as I have no connection.

Adaline Brock
Hello Pamela,

I have been trying to find an ancestor, Adaline Brock, who was a daughter of George Washington Brock who was my third ggrandfather. I was wondering if this might be the correct Adaline?

RE: Re: Womeldorf
I seen on your site that you will no longer be adding memorials. I don't know if I ever thanked you for transferring my grandfather to me, back in 2012 but I would like to do so now.

Over 16,000 memorials is an undeniable dedication, with your time, accuracy and love for helping others.

Thank you for all you have done for all of us over the years.

SWAIN graves
Pam -
On another matter, I just noticed your name on several SWAIN memorials at Village View Cemetery in Sarahsville. These are in my direct line on my mother's side.
For 20 years I have searched without success for the grave of William SWAIN (1777 - 1852) who came from Maryland about 1833 and farmed in Sections 21/22 in Franklin Township of Monroe County, right on the border of what eventually became Noble County.
He had two wives (consecutively) and a gaggle of children. I would bet that anyone named SWAIN in Noble or Monroe was descended from this man.
But I have never found his grave. The local chapters of OGS do not list it in their cemetery inscriptions for Franklin Twp. Monroe or Stock Twp. Noble. ( He might have attended church in either township.)
I was wondering if you can possibly suggest where else I might look. I would be grateful for any tips at all.
All the best.
Cheers, - Mike Kagay, Princeton NJ

There is an article in the Brainerd Dispatch Brainerd, Minnesota that gives an account of her 80th birthday celebration. The article is in the edition of 27 December 1901, p. 2, c. 2. If you are interested, the newspaper can be found here.

Armstrong - Powell
Pam -

Moses died in 1894. Wife Rhoda died in 1911.

That's 17 years apart.

That's probably enough time to change one's mind about a burial place. Especially if she had family in or near Ogles.

Surviving family might even have been the ones deciding the question.

Cheers, - Mike Kagay

Moses Armstrong-Rhoda Powell
Pam -

Greetings and best wishes.

Still waiting for "Jefferson Township Cemeteries" from the Noble County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society so I can check their survey of burials at Ogles Cemetery.

In the meantime I looked more closely at their "Olive Township Cemetery Inscriptions" which I already had. The entry at Olive Cemetery for Moses Armstrong and his wife is suggestive: while it gives birth and death dates for Moses, it gives only birthdate for Rhoda. That suggests the possibility that she is not buried there.

Perhaps she outlived Moses by many years and is buried elsewhere, such as at Ogles.

Hope to solve this mystery soon.

Cheers, - Mike Kagay, Princeton, NJ
