Bowers Cemetery #12

Yes it is frustrating locating rural cemeteries. One cemetery in Greenbrier County has five names.. all valid at some point in time, so often boots on the ground talking to locals will unravel cemetery naming problems. Also HUNDREDS of little WV cemeteries are still not yet on FindAGrave. I add new cemeteries all the time, like Rodgers, often out of the way, little long forgotten places, usually in bad shape.
Rodgers children... sources are consensus collection of available information from census, family trees, newspapers, and any thing else available in WV birth and death certificates. As stated before, if you have any corrections, let me know ASAP.

Please submit via EDIT > OTHER SUGGESTIONS a revised bio that better fits your family sources. I try to develop a consensus among the many sources I encounter. Sometimes family publications especially made closer in past time to the distant relatives is a better source as they may have insider first hand information, sometimes they have made errors as I have discovered in my family tree, and sometimes we never know for sure since we cannot travel back in time to confirm things properly. So I welcome any suggested bio revisions you might have.

Hi Pat, thanks for your response. I am working with a family tree sketch given to me from my Uncle Dave. On my mom's side he was like the family historian. All I have is the year (1837) for Rebecca Ours's birth year. On another piece of paper I have 1836/1839. So I decided to use Uncle Dave's date. I was checking with you to see if your source may be a little more firm. In some old obituaries you can back into the birth date when they put the years, months, and days they lived. I am using May 6, 1837 for Daniel Alt. I have not seen the other dates. I know the old census records do vary, but they do give some pretty good data.
I am not sure but want to ask if you are a cousin to my mom (Goldie Layton Elosser). My grandmother is Myrtle Alt Layton.
Thanks for accepting my changes.
I tried emailing you directly, but it was returned. You can email directly, if you like.

Hello, I wanted to ask you about the birth year for Rebecca. I was given 1837 by my Uncle David Layton. Do you have a source for your birth year that I can go to? Thanks

I found another picture that had dates on it. the birth date is hard to read. I may have it wrong.
