The tombstone photographs that I have taken are approved for personal use; any other reason requires prior permission.
My artwork is protected from all copying or replication except for the fair use doctrine.
The vintage photographs that I have added to memorials come from family photo albums.
Some of my memorials are family members - but there are many that are not my family and may be freely transferred, they are the ones in Glenwood and Pilot Mound cemeteries in Iowa. Please use the edit tab on the memorial you wish to have transferred and I will do my best to honor, thank you.
Please visit my daughter's memorial and leave some virtual flowers (if you wish):
For corrections to a memorial that I maintain - use the "Edit" tab on the memorial in question, please do not leave a message for corrections or transfers in the comment section as it is too hard to figure out who/what/where, etc.
FYI - there is a new "Edits" tab feature on the main member page. In just one click a member can "approve" the time consuming edits that people have sent them. Check it out on your own page!

|cindy hall||Woodlawn Cem Photo Request|
Hi. I am a Find A Grave volunteer and would be happy to take your requested tombstone photo(s) at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Urbana, Illinois. The problem is, the cemetery cannot release burial information to a volunteer. It involves the privacy act. Check the front page of the cemetery memorial to see their policy. If you can include the burial location, section, block, etc., then volunteers can get those photos for you.

Portage Community Historical Society, Inc.
Wednesday April 16, 2014, will be held at 7:00 pm at Woodland Park
Our guest speaker will be Brendan Clancy, Portage Twp. Trustee, who will speak on the township cemeteries. He will tell us about the improvements and changes at the James/ Schrock cemetery where some if our earliest settlers are buried.
Brendan Clancy announced at his State of the Township address at the Bonner Senior Center on Feb. 13, 2014: Improvements to James-Schrock Cemetery - A steep incline at the main entrance has prohibited access to many visitors. We are currently under construction of a new entrance into James/Schrock Cemetery. As soon as the weather cooperates we will continue with this project. Also, a new James-Schrock memorial monument will be installed at McCool Cemetery. This monument will list the names of the deceased at James-Schrock Cemetery. A dedication ceremony is being planned.
Please come out and learn what our trustee is doing. Refreshments will be served. For more information check our page at www.facebook.com/pchs88 or call the museum at 219-762-8349.

I'm not sure how far the stone is from the gate or the tree. I was only there one time. Sorry. Is it missing?
When I was there, the farmer that owned the property insisted the gate be left open for his cattle to go in there. He had piled up all the headstones at the base of the tree and the only remaining stone was the one that the cattle hadn't dislodged. He said if we closed the gate, he would tear down the fence.
Our family that lives in the area was trying to preserve the cemetery, so they collected money and had the chain link fence put in. Then there was the threat to the fence, so they leave the gate open according to his demands.
They collected money again and purchased the heaviest marble headstone they could get to support the weight of the bull when walks on it.
I think it's against the law to desecrate a cemetery, even in rural Missouri but they are being bullied. If you are trying to take care of that situation I will back you 100%. Just let me know.

I was there about 20 yrs ago and I don't know how long the stone had been there. Does Elsie know when it was put in?

|Sheila||RE: Edit Tab Results|
HI Audrey - Thanks for the feedback. I think the linking for edits is in the works or at least I've seen it mentioned in the forums. Take care.

|Joel Shore||Re: Photo request for James C McCormick1848|
Attached is a copy of the problem report I submitted on this photo request:
According to the Mt Hope Interment Records (http://www.lib.rochester.edu/IN/RBSCP/Databases/IMAGES/MtHope/disc1/00000212.pdf), James C McCormick who died in 1848 was a 15.5-month old child who died of scarlet fever and he was buried in St Patrick's Cemetery.
This site gives a detailed explanation: http://mcnygenealogy.com/cem/st-pat.htm but the gist of it is that in the mid-1800s, the Mt Hope Interment Records were used to record all burials in the city of Rochester, including those at other cemeteries. St Patrick's Cemetery is a now-defunct cemetery, with most of the remains having supposedly been moved to Holy Sepulchre Cemetery where there is a general memorial for all of the removals from St. Patrick's. (You can see a picture of that on Memorial #31976547 for Bridget Agan and could ask Judy Williams, the volunteer who posted it, to do the same for James C McCormick if you want.)
|Sheila||RE: Edit tab|
Hi Audrey - thanks for responding. I happened to be reading the forums the day the new system was implemented for everyone, so that's how I found out. I put a message up on my home page in Dec. and so did others. Will put together some sort of results of this in 2 or 3 days and post to my home page. Hope you have a nice weekend.

HI - I'm doing a quick survey of about 400 people on my friends list just to see how many are aware of the new "Edits" tab on their home page. If you could just shoot me back a brief response, either way that would be great. Thanks.
