Please do NOT hesitate to contact me if you wish that a family member's memorial be removed. I understand that the resting places of loved ones are very special and personal. My intention to create these memorials is to share and hopefully help those who are seeking out burials for either family research or for viewing family markers. Personally, I have a memorial set up for my father and I don't have it in me to add a picture of his gravestone. Just too final I guess. I have special pictures of him up for family to see. If someone else were to add a picture of his tombstone I would prob. ask that they take it down. This is very personal to me. So I understand how someone might feel about this...I totally respect your request and understand completely.
This is a picture of my son who had accompanied me on one of many trips to old cemeteries in the area. He's leaning against a tombstone of a fellow who died almost 200 years ago! I had taken a rubbing of this stone when I was my son's age....Still have the rubbing!!! Stored away for safe keeping. Someday maybe someone will contact me asking about the tombstone...I can't even get a good picture of it anymore, it's leaned over so far!
This is a big reason why I like going around these old cemeteries....taking pictures of the old stones.....to preserve a bit of the past...or should I say...monuments to the memory of the people of the past...before they slip away....crumble into dust...like so many already have...
***AN IMPORTANT NOTE***
I ask that the images which i have worked VERY HARD to capture NOT be copied and published to another websight without my permission. Images are not allowed to be copied for publication and resale. Personal use for family genealogy is fine but it's always nice to be asked and credited. This is a simple thing to do and goes along way to make me feel that i'm doing something good for others.
Nothing bothers me more than to come across a photo that i have taken and find someone else's name underneith and/or no credit given at all for my work.
I also ask that any picture attached by others to my memorial pages be of a respectful nature to the person being memorialized as well as being respectful to family and friends. It's not an ARTSHOW either. No over the top "creativity".
This site is not meant to be for a competition to see who creates the most memorials. Not a race to see who gets to the cemetery first to get that shot. Not meant to be for those who strive for quantity and NOT quality.
This site is for those of us who enjoy taking that stroll through a cemetery and seeing beyond the gravestones to the people being remembered. More important for those who would like to "FINDAGRAVE" and be so thrilled and thankful for doing so.
An Epitath taken from a Civil War Soldier's gravestone......
In the night a bright wing fluttered oer the tent in which he lay. In his ear a soft voice uttered...Soldier rise and come away"

No harm, she is a Whitney. I am sure I can find a connection eventually.

Thank you so much for linking David and Theda's Memorials to each other and for linking their daughter Ann's Memorial to theirs. These are my 4x great grandparents and their daughter. I am attempting to link the whole family together on Find A Grave and I appreciate your helping me work toward that goal.

Hello Donna, I submitted an edit request to add his complete date of death. The source was his newspaper obituary. I found it while researching a Civil War soldier. Paul Turner

Thank you for adding Minerva Thrall Johnson to the Find a Grave site.
If you will allow, I would like to use the photo of her stone on my Family Tree site.
Also I am not sure if this is correct protocol however is it possible to list her nickname as Minerva as this is the family name we know her by.
I have sent some edits for her if you would add them please.
Please continue your fine work in helping us all find our family members.
Onward we travel,

Hi Donna, I see you took a picture of my great grandparents grave stone in Buffalo Cemetery, I was wondering if you know the location in the Cemetery itself. The stone I'm looking for is for Michael 1856-1930 and Anna M Roll 1865. I appreciate and help you can give me! Thank you!

Donna, I heard one time that there was limited access to this cemetery by the public, Is this still the situation?
