Bio and Links
Bio Photo We have been researching our family for about 30 years and have traveled to several states for genealogy. Many of our memorials are for "extended" family members, but others are not. We hope someone finds the information we post helpful in their own research.

Except for those photos listed within our *Posted with Permission* virtual cem, every tombstone or cemetery photo we post was taken by us on the date indicated in the photo caption.

FIND A GRAVE PHOTO POLICY:
-- All contributor-posted photographs are intended for PERSONAL USE, unless stated otherwise. To comply with current Copyright Law, you SHOULD NOT post (and/or republish) any contributor's cemetery or tombstone photos elsewhere without permission.

-- As contributors retain the copyright on ALL photos that they have taken and posted, it is actually NOT acceptable to just indicate you took the photo from Find A Grave (since this site does not own the copyright to any of the contributor-posted photographs).

***** ***** ***** ***** ***** *****
Regarding our cemetery and tombstone photographs, specifically...

-- We will allow most instances of unaltered OTHER USE, but with the added stipulation that you MUST provide a photo source citation (by referencing both "Find A Grave" [or www.findagrave.com] AND our profile name AND # in the Description) for any of our photographs taken from this website; for example, "Photo courtesy of Find A Grave Contributor: Law-Miller Roots (#47103448)".

-- Note that you can provide a link back to the Find A Grave memorial, instead of copying (i.e. Ancestry's built-in "weblinks" function can be used for this exact purpose). This option works quite well.

-- Please do not download and then republish any family portraits we post, as these come from private family collections. Some of these photos still enjoy copyright protection and are NOT in the public domain.

NOTE: If we've submitted a memorial that you want to make corrections to, or if you would like a memorial transferred (and we're not also related in some way) let us know via the Edit Tab and we'll take care of it asap.

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide so much detail for me! I really appreciate it.

Do you have knowledge if Elias McDougal was related to Richard V & Amanda McDougal who are buried in the same cemetery? I am directly related to Richard.
You may email me at: jmhartman@q.com
I am a member of Find A Grave.

Thank you.

RE: Sowers #151063759
I contacted Patricia Steele of Brookville, author of Tombstone Hoppin, book publish in 1980, now out of print, but might be available in your local library.

She found a photo of that gravestone she took 35 years ago and provided info I added. I just wanted to get a little more info for the posting. Still stuggling with a few dozen nearly unreadable photos from last year.

Hi

I don't ever post obits to the photo section; I always transcribe. You'll need to click on the name under the 'photo' and leave them the message.

Sowers #151063759
I posted an "Unknown" Sowers in Zion Cemetery (Langville) Jefferson Co. last summer, with photo of grave stone. I suspect it's a child of Jonas Sowers, probably his son Harvey. Any thoughts?

I do not mean to be troublesome but all of the cemetery is Clymer Cemetery. The section that you refer to is the Pleasant View addition to the Clymer Cemetery. I will respectfully decline to change the cemetery designation. (I recently talked to a township trustee, just to make sure that my information is correct.)

RE: Philip Baus & Doris Baus - Chapel of the Pines
He didn't say immediate family, he just said related, so I would try saying you are a married sister, or aunt or something like that. Hope it works

RE: Charles Webster Caylor #42648686
Hi Marilyn:

I'm doing something different today (for a rainy day). I'm going through family photos and putting names on the back so whoever "inherits" my stuff will know who everybody is (unlike some of the piles of photos I have with no info.)

My next piece of work is to gather and mark stuff for a yard sale.

Headstone of Emanuel Christ Sr.
I notice you adhere to strict copyright rules. Good for you. Whenever I have found a headstone picture on Find a Grave taken and posted by someone else, I ask permission, and with permission granted I then watermark the picture with the contributor's name and contributor number right on the headstone in a visible, yet not obvious, manner. Then I post the picture on Ancestry, and with the words: Photo by.... right on the headstone, even if someone else "takes" the picture and claims it as his own and reposts it on Ancestry, the original picture taker's name is right on the headstone. You'd be surprised how much pirating has been curtailed.
You have taken pictures of Emanuel Christ Sr., and other members of the family. May I copy this photo, watermark it, and place it on Ancestry? His mother's sister is my 6th great grandma. Thank you for your consideration. Nancy Gawthrop

Thanks for the kind words and message, but you did not provide me with the information requested, and I do not look up information that I asked for.
