Bio and Links
Bio Photo Retired university teacher and librarian with interest in Civil War burials and burial practices. Also undertaking to photograph all cemeteries in Erath County, TX, and surrounding counties, then to enter the tombstone information into the database. Many older tombstones are in such shape as to be illegible, so corrections to bad or missing biographical information is welcomed.

Please make requests for additions, corrections, links, etc., directly from the memorials' "edit" feature rather than here. I'll get to them much faster. (Transfers to direct descendants, please, and not in bulk lots!)

Ken, this is my husband's uncle and I have most of the rest of the memorial - would there be a way for you to transfer this one to me?

Hi Ken!
I was just reading some of the posts to your bio page. And because you have been so wonderful to Find A Grave and me I wanted to share something with you.

I USED to post photos published by funeral homes. Some I thought were very respectful and made the memorials I added them to (in my opinion) really professional and respectful, something to be a treasure family and friends could visit.

I recently ran across a really nasty woman. She had just joined Find A Grave and Is a horrid bully. She was so rude and demanding even after I transferred her grandmother (who I personally knew) to her she was still demanding other memorials of people she wasnt related to. I finally offered to transfer IF she sponsored them. She threw a fit and accused me of attempted extortion.... of $5.00 payable to FIND A GRAVE yeah like they need extorted money $5 to stay in business.

Then I found someone had created a duplicate of my memorial with a Funeral Home photo. The memorial I created also had a photo one I had seen when she was running for a local political position. The other memorial was a photo published in the Odessa TX news it was of this neat lady dressed for christmas with a beautiful smile on her face.

This "contributor" who claims to be a grand daughter was demanding these photos be removed that the "family" was very upset.

Then the poor woman starts filling my bio page up with threatening messages. Her crazy daughter (also a "contributor" started doing the same! Total harassment from the two of them for days. Nothing made them happy! The beautiful photos were replaced with a photo of a very sick person.

I finally had Find A Grave delete both memorials even tho they had been transferred to the nutty contributor.

This was not the first time someone got bent outta shape over a photo. I decided it is not worth wasting my time adding a photo that someone might not like.

I even had complaints from another contributor because I did not post a photo of the back side of headstone photo! The back side was BLANK! I refused to go back to the cemetery and take and post another photo!

Anyway, to make a long story short I will not post another funeral home or news paper photo! For the most part people appreciate us volunteering our time but as the saying goes, a few bad apples spoil everything!

Ive also stopped posting headstone photos my husband was diagnosed with cancer 4 years ago. even thru the chemo I tried finding local graves and posting requested headstone photos until rude people who didnt request the photos started complaining. ONE thought a beautiful statue of an angel marking a grave would be damaged and/or destroyed if a photo was online so the woman's ex husband might see it?

I want you to know I personally thank you for all the wonderful photos you posted in the Eastland City Cemetery! I hope you NEVER remove any of them!!!!

My last thought! Volunteer Contributors have traveled miles to take photos of my familys graves. Headstones/graves of my grandmohter in Oklahoma, my great grandparents in Alabama and Oklahoma. I would never been able to go and visit those sites and pay my respects if it hadnt been for people like you!!

Just thought Id let you know about my recent experience regarding a photo a nut! Sorry I got so long winded!

Carneals in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery

Thanks so very much for preserving photos of the headstones of my relatives in Erath County. I see that you do quite a bit of volunteer posting, and I appreciate it. Since you are managing so many memorials already I wonder if I could take over those for my grandfather, James Luther Carneal 21546131 as well as his siblings and parents in the same cemetery (any Carneal in the cemetery) as well the three Wells graves there(also my direct relatives). If it would be easier I can copy all of their IDs for you.

Thanks so much!

Would you please remove the obituary photo you posted on this Find A Grave memorial page. I have been able to locate a photo that is a little more attractive for Margie. She was my step-mother and her children have requested that even though that is the photo that was given to the funeral home, it is a very sad photo and they would like it removed. Thank you so much, Brenda Ashford #47878162

Wesley Grayson
Am searching for any information on Wesley Grayson grave in Proctor cemetery. My ggrandfather, James Monroe Grayson is buried in same cemetery.

Am also searching for information on a Marvin (possibly first name) Grayson who would have been born in Texas or California between 1905 and 1911. Probably died in Texas 1911 or earlier. Son of James Monroe Grayson [Jr.] and Emma Busby Grayson.

Thomas Glover Payne
You posted that Thomas Glover Payne died 16 Sep 1889. I cannot read the tombstone clearly but it looks as thought it might be 1896/98. If you have time to double check this, I will really appreciate it!

Thanking you ahead of time,

Robert Travis Barnes
I've created a memorial for Robert Travis Barnes (husband of Betty J. Barnes).

You have a great photo of Betty and Robert's grave on Betty's memorial. Would you like to add this photo to Robert's memorial as well?

Thanks so much!
