Bio and Links
Bio Photo I've been into genealogy online since 2001, but had always had an interest before all these technological advances. Now that most of my ancestors are 'sourced' at, I'm attempting to finish each member with a pictorial record of their final resting place. I thoroughly enjoy this jigsaw-puzzle called family tree making and would love it if I could help anyone else out in their genealogical journey.

Currently (fall '11 - now), I'm in the process of photo-documenting a couple of the local cemeteries in El Dorado County. All of the internments I enter for these I'm no relation to. If you want me to transfer management, I'm willing to do so. Just ask :)

I am extremely passionate about what I do for Find A Grave. Although, merely a volunteer, the end results are so much more gratifying. Connecting loved ones with those looking for them is the most rewarding for me.

With the many gold country pioneer cemeteries I've plodded through in recent years, it just makes me want to identify each plot even more and with accuracy.

I'll have to say that one of the cemeteries that made my jaw drop in beauty was Forest Lawn, Glendale. I've coined it "city of the dead" because its population is over 10,000... five of which are my ancestors.

Hi Lori,
During your work in the El Dorado Public Cemetery I was hoping you might remember a man named Hezekiah [Kiah] Goldsworthy born Feb 18, 1878 and died Jun 19, 1941 at El Dorado, El Dorado County, California and was buried Placerville, El Dorado County, California.
Was your work done from walking the cemetery and with burial records?
He would have been alone in the area, closet family that I'm aware of would have been Utah and Washington then back to Michigan. So I think he would not have a grave headstone.
I hope you know the name of the cemetery and just not had time to place him on find a grave.

Moo, Esq.
you are welcome.. if it helps, the community was horrified it was done. They reconstructed the remaining stones as best they could. What remains is about 1/8 of the cemetery. They also installed a sign in the front with a list of all the original parish members that they could recall. It's awful. Unfortunately also, they used to have the cub scouts rip out any decaying wood markers every spring. :( They meant well, but my goodness...

Mud Springs
Hi Lori - We have corresponded about El Dorado Public before & I have been so busy, cannot find my notes on one I wondered about.

I have records indicating a George James Williams, born about 1819, a Welch immigrant miner, was located there at least from 1869 through 1880. He married at Mud Springs to an English divorcee named Elizabeth Ann Mills. She had married Shem Bevin Purnell in St Louis Missouri, 1846, divorced him (abt. 1850's) & married a Mr. Jones in Salt Lake City, Utah in March 1860.

She had 4 children with Purnell, only one girl survived & is buried in Cache Co., Utah.

How Elizabeth got to Cal., don't know. Anyway she married George James Williams there; they may possibly be buried at El Dorado or Mountain Ranch, in Calaveras Co. between 1881 & 1890. I would appreciate if you have any records you are able to check. Thanks ~ Shirleen

Debbie Cowden
Stark Family
Hi Lori, this is Debbie Cowden, Melodie Stark's sister. You had created the "Stark" memorials and then transferred ownership to me. I would like you to delete the following memorials so I can do them myself.
#110135874 Marlin Raymond Stark
#78214114 Marlin Raymond Stark, Jr.
#109741186 Tina Marie Redd Stark
#79101835 Neland J. Stark
#79101869 Velva A Stark

My relatives are freaking out because someone created pages for their loved ones without their permission. They don't understand so if you could just delete these I would be greatful.

Thanks, Debbie Cowden

Amy Mouch, Georgetown Cemetery
Thank you for the grave photo for Amy (72239519) at Georgetown Pioneer Cemetery. I have been there several times in the distant past looking for her final resting place but alas, since it is unmarked and I didn't have the exact location, I came up empty. I appreciate your time and all that you do.
