Hello,
I have been informed that someone is currently contacting members to let them know not to send me family members because I will not transfer memorials?
I WILL transfer almost any memorial AS LONG as it is not a direct family member to me. Very rarely will I keep a distant relative. My messages are usually polite to other members, but I am human and when someone is rude to me... I also ask to finish researching a family member before transfers. I like to know they are going to direct relatives also. If I have offended anyone I apologize and ask that you to remember these are not just headstones, but people who lived and breathed at one time and deserve our respect and consideration.
Thank you, Patrick

The new index is now ready for distribution - contact me if you want a copy of it. It has 6,100 names and 4,000 obituaries.

PUBLIC NOTICE:
I have spoken to the Poughkeepsie Journal (owned by Gannett Publications), who referred me back to their newspaper where is stated that all obituaries, pictures and information MAY be used by the reader in whatever way they wish, including reproduction for reposting electronically in part or whole for publishing. With this in mind it is my notification that I do have permission to post the obituaries I have placed on memorials and ask that they remain.
I am currently working on putting together a book to include the over 3,000 obituaries I have located for family members with indexing and cross-referencing. This project will probably take up most of my next few months, but I will still be posting here on Findagrave as I discover new family members. Anyone interested in copy of this book can contact me at my e-mail address. Since it is looking to be a large book, I may split into two parts: men and women.
I have been researching my family tree for about 30 years now, and just started really going through graveyards looking for family members about 20 years ago. I have found more information on the internet in the short time I have been researching here than in all the time I spent in libraries, courthouses, and town halls. I no longer live in New York so I have suspended looking in cemeteries. If anyone has a family member, that I have added to this site, to yourself (who is not a direct family member for myself) please let me know and I will be happy to transfer ownership to you. I'd would rather have family members maintain memorials than a stranger who has no connection, but I feel no burial place should be neglected or forgotten.
Another note: for old New York newspaper articles you can use Fultonhistory.com. They have papers from the 1700's to 2000's. You can search for family members there.
One more note: I hereby give permission for all to use photos I have posted. I feel that if these are your family you have as much right to add them as I do. You do not need to ask, and I do not require you to attribute them to me, unless you wish too. It is good to find loved ones and I am happy that if I have found yours for you.
