SPECIAL NOTE TO FIND-A-GRAVE MEMBERS: When I first started on Find-a-Grave, there were no record transfer capabilities and no family link features. I also had a lot more free time than I do now. Years later, when the family link and transfer features were added, I was suddenly hit with an overwhelming number of requests to make changes and to make transfers. Meanwhile, I was putting in more hours at work, making it extremely difficult for me to fulfill these requests. Now, I work at a place which has a shortage of employees, which makes my free time almost non-existent. Find-a-Grave has changed; and, my personal situation has also changed. In the past, I have painstakingly attempted to insure the accuracy of the information I have submitted to Find-a-Grave. I no longer have the luxury of checking this information. Find-a-Grave has created a feature which allows people to submit edits (and for me to simply confirm them after reviewing them). I don't have the time to check the information in the submitted edits (and people are impatient for me to make the changes). So, I am forced to simply to review the submitted edits (to make sure that the submitted information appears to be reasonable), to confirm them, and to have faith in the people who have submitted them. It goes against my grain to do things in this way; but, I seem to have no choice in the matter. I still maintain exclusive editorial control over my own private GEDCOM; but as far as Find-a-Grave, I am forced to yield to changes which are forced upon me due to my own time constraints. Find-a-Grave is a public database; and if the submitted edits are inaccurate, I apologize. I have done my best.

PROFILE:
Brian Hass has lived in Beresford, SD since the late 1970's and has had an interest in genealogy since the late 1980's. Most of Brian's known ancestors are buried in Union County, South Dakota and Sioux County, Iowa. Brian's contributions to Findagrave include records for the graves and relatives and friends.

Brian Hass has also performed surveys of grave stone inscriptions at a number of local cemeteries and has submitted records for numerous other graves as well. Brian Hass' policy is to limit submitted grave records to those of marked graves that he has personally visited and to those of unmarked graves with citations of the information sources included. Brian Hass only submits grave records, marked or unmarked, for cemeteries he has personally visited.

The biographies submitted to Find-a-Grave by Brian Hass were composed by him, using information from sources such as obituaries. Brian does not submit transcriptions of obituaries to Find-a-Grave, partially to avoid potential copyright infringement issues.

Family-link, transfer, and other requests should be submitted through "Suggest a correction..." located under the "Edit" tab on the memorial. This eliminates a lot of guess work regarding which memorial should be edited.

Brian Hass appreciates any biographical and family-link information submitted to him by other contributors. Whenever possible and whenever time permits, Brian will attempt to verify this data by checking local microfilm records before adding it to the grave records. Because of time constraints due to his work schedule, Brian is not always able to do this immediately; so, patience is requested.
