Bio and Links
Bio Photo Find-A-Grave is such a wonderful website and gives a lot of great information to family genealogists. I came from a family of nine children and have lots of nieces and nephews. I have been my family's record keeper since I was a very young girl and have loved meeting new relatives, especially cousins, cousins, and more cousins. It's also fun to be able to add new descendents of my parents to our family tree...which happens quite often. Many new babies are born every year. The family tree continues to grow and grow and bears much fruit.Aside from obtaining family information, this website allows us to give a living memorial to honor our family members who are no longer with us. This is an awesome website. Thank you Find-A-Grave.RESEARCHING:Fallwell/Sims/Bailey/LittleSmith/Stockton/Stapp/GrantKyser/Davis/Douglas/TatumHenderson/McCoy/Liebnitz"Remember, cemeteries are not for the dead...they are for the living."Note: Please feel free to use any photos I have taken. I do not need to be given credit for them.

Alexander Studdard
I talked to my Grandma, Hazel (Farris) Studdard a couple days ago about "Elic" Alexander Studdard. She said that his name was NOT Elic but Alec, a nickname for Alexander. She also said that the photo of the man sitting in the chair is not Alec. Grandma couldn't remember who it was but said it looked like it could have been a brother.

Kings Point Cemetery Photo
For whatever reason, I have been looking at a lot of memorials in Kings Point Cemetery in the last few days. Every time I view one, I am taken with the beautiful cemetery photo you took. It seems likely to me that you made a special effort to get such a nice photo.

I "almost" missed the "traditional" road in front, rear view mirror, only telephone pole in the area, and all those signs of a hastily and thoughtlessly composed photo that we see too often.

And my heart goes out to you that you were in the right spot at the right time to get a spectacular sunset, but only got a beautiful one.

IMHO, that photo reflects the highest standard of craft and caring.

Well done!

Baily vs Bailey
I understand your perspective, however if you refer to the section on naming conventions in the find a grave FAQ you will note that it states,
"Last Name as you would find it on the tombstone, if the interred had more than one marriage or other possible spellings please place this information in the bio and use the family links"
This is also a standard rule for transcription of any source document. I refer you to the Board for Certification of Genealogists,
"When applied to historical documentation the word transcript means an exact copy. Those three words are crucial. That definition is unyielding. When a document - be it recorded on parchment, granite, or film - is transcribed, the result must be an exact copy."(Elizabeth Shown Mills, "Transcribing Source Materials,OnBoard 2 (January 1996): 8.)

Additionally, If I transcribe the tombstone and change the last name to the spelling you consider correct there is a greater chance that another contributor will come across Elizabeth's stone and not finding the accurate transcription on Find A Grave, will create a duplicate through no fault of their own.

I do have faith that most people researching their ancestors are aware that until recent times, surnames were spelled inconsistently and are savvy enough to try a variety of spellings in their searches. The link to her husband will also help them find Elizabeth.

Please understand that this is not an arbitrary decision on my part, nor mean't to thwart researchers. I always welcome edits and consider them seriously. When I got your edit,I studied the photos of the stone and the transcription of the name is correct as it stands.

But I appreciate your genuine concern for connecting families and your numerous contributions to find a grave.

Elizabeth Baily
Hi Mary,
I appreciate your suggestion that I edit Elizabeth's memorial from Baily to Bailey, however on the stone it is spelled Baily so it seems an appropriate representation of the actual stone to keep the spelling as is.

James C Bailey stone
As per your need to send me a email about a duplicate of James C Bailey stone at Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery, Mountville, Laurens County, South Carolina, USA. My entry was added in 2009 , the other was added in 2013.The way it is suppose to work is they are not suppose to enter a duplicate of a entry someone has already made. I suggest you let them know or I can let admins know they are making duplicate entry's which is against the site rules.

I am related to Median's first husband, Joseph Seaborn/ Seabourn. I see that on this FindAGrave site there is a daughter listed for Median and Joseph- Sarah Seaborn. Would you have any information on this daughter? Thanks, Barbara
