Many people do not understand our passion for recording graves and cemeteries. |
I try to record information correctly, but I make many mistakes. Thank you for spotting them and letting me know. I will transfer ownership if the departed is not directly related to me and wish others to show me the same respect. If you send a request and I fail to respond, please resend the request.
Please do not use my photos for financial gain or publication unless you request first.
I submit those who have gone before us as an honor, a memory to be cherish. I do not wish to hurt or offend. I am drawn to veterans graves, graves of children and unusual gravestones. Findagrave allows me to visit my family's graves within the privacy of my home.
Lost cemeteries and fallen, worn stones need to be recorded for those who follow, searching for their ancestors. If I have helped one person on their quest, I will feel this has not been in vain.

|Brenda ||Perry Commodore Oller|
Can I ask where you got the information about Perry Commodore Oller being buried at Kinder Cemetery? I was at a meeting of the people that take care of Kinder a few days ago and asked about his grave site, and they had no knowledge of him or his wife being buried there, and I could not find any headstones for either one. Is he listed in the register somewhere, as being buried there?
I'm trying to pin down his burial site, as a newspaper article at that time said that he may possibly be buried near Palmer, Il, where he died.

Thank you for the military info and the death certificate. I had looked for them when I first created the memorial and hadn't been able to find anything at that time.
I appreciate your help!

Thank you so much for our kind words! I did take pics of all the markers in Mount Olive. Unfortunately, that cemetery is not well cared for and many of the markers are broken or can no longer be read. Heartbreaking.
|Jane Graves Carson||RE: Dr. Helen Graves|
Thank you for leaving the message about my aunt, Helen Graves. I am her niece, Jane Graves Carson. I live in Dallas, TX. Yes, she was a remarkable person and music was her life. We went to many concerts of hers from the 1950's to 1980's when she passed away. She had the chorus up until her death. She is buried with my grandparents at Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton as you saw. I was born in Canton, my dad and Helen were also both born in Canton, lived there all their lives through graduation from Culver-Stockton College. All of my relatives on both sides of my grandparents are also buried in that cemetery. My mother was born in Leonard and grew up in Shelbina where she graduated from high school. She attended college in Kirksville, taught in Canton for 5 yrs. where she met my dad. We moved to Dallas in 1942 but visited St. Louis and Canton every summer. Thank you again for thinking of my aunt. She was very special to our family, and I oversaw dividing her things up between my sister and my 2 children and closed her apt. there. I lived in her apt. for 3 months after her death to dispose of all of her things.
